We are seeking an experienced Senior Revenue Accountant to join our energy accounting team. As a Senior Revenue Accountant, you will play a critical role in ensuring accurate revenue recognition, analyzing financial data, and contributing to the overall financial health of our organization. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in revenue accounting within the upstream oil and gas sector, an emphasis of experience around operated assets, exceptional attention to detail, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in revenue accounting, with at least 3 years in the upstream oil and gas industry.
- Strong understanding of account reconciliations, revenue recognition principles and their application in the upstream oil and gas sector.
- Proficient in using accounting software and ERP systems, with a high level of Excel proficiency.
- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey financial information to both financial and non-financial stakeholders.
Nice To Haves
- CPA or equivalent certification is a plus.
- Experience with gas balancing, severance tax or production accounting a plus.
- Quorum’s OGsys experience a plus.
- Ability to adapt to evolving industry standards, regulations, and organizational requirements.
- Proven ability to work collaboratively in cross-functional teams and lead initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Oversee and execute the revenue recognition process, ensuring compliance with industry standards, regulations, and internal policies.
- Analyze and interpret complex production and sales data to accurately calculate and record revenue.
- Conduct thorough financial analysis to identify trends, variances, and areas for improvement.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to provide insights and recommendations for optimizing revenue streams.
- Prepare and present comprehensive revenue reports for internal and external stakeholders.
- Support audits related to revenue recognition.
- Stay abreast of industry changes and updates in revenue accounting standards, ensuring the organization's practices remain in compliance.
- Work closely with regulatory agencies to address inquiries and maintain accurate reporting.
- Perform regulatory reporting related to production taxes and/or government royalties.
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy in revenue accounting procedures.
- Collaborate with IT teams to leverage technology for automation and optimization of financial processes.
