About The Position

The Senior Account Manager is responsible for driving sales growth, developing new business opportunities, and maintaining strong customer relationships within assigned grocery deli accounts. This role manages an established book of business as assigned by the Deli Sales Manager and serves as a key liaison between customers, internal teams, marketing department and company leadership. Anticipated 66% time commitment to account management and 33% to category reviews, new business opportunities and cross-functional projects. Success in this position requires proactive communication, exceptional customer service, and a strong understanding of retail deli operations.

Requirements

  • Experience in sales, grocery retail, deli operations, or food distribution
  • Strong communication and relationship‑building skills
  • Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and prioritize competing demands
  • Proficiency with email, Microsoft platforms, spreadsheets, and basic reporting tools
  • Ability to lift, move, or merchandise products as needed during store visits

Nice To Haves

  • 3–5 years of experience in account management, retail sales, or grocery/deli operations
  • Previous experience managing a sales territory or book of business
  • Knowledge of merchandising best practices

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for assigned accounts, managing pricing, orders, credits, issue resolution and ongoing account needs
  • Lead category reviews and present insights, recommendations and performance updates for customers and internal sales teams
  • Analyze sales data to identify trends, gaps, risks and opportunities, and translate findings into actionable plans
  • Lead cross-functional projects such as new product launches, catalog updates, promotional materials, or merchandising initiatives
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities as identified in collaboration with the deli sales manager
  • Grow sales within an assigned book of business through strategic planning, relationship building, and execution of sales initiatives
  • Manage all customer needs , including orders, credits, pricing, issue resolution, and general account support
  • Evaluate customer satisfaction and communicate opportunities, risks, and trends to the Retail Deli Sales Manager
  • Build and maintain professional relationships with department managers, store owners, and internal team members
  • Provide sales and merchandising support to assigned retail customers, ensuring product visibility, accuracy, and performance
  • Assist with store resets and merchandising projects as needed
  • Collaborate closely with the Charlie’s Produce sales team and merchandising team to ensure alignment and execution of customer strategies
  • Participate in demos, trade shows, resets, and other assigned activities that support customer engagement and brand visibility
  • Maintain an organized monthly calendar of store visits, activities, and priorities, adjusting as needed to meet customer demands
