Requirements

  • Graduate of an AMA approved program.
  • Current registered respiratory therapist license in the State of Florida.
  • Current American Heart Association BLS, ACLS, PALS, NRP & STABLE certifications required.
  • Minimum one (1) year experience in neonatal intensive care services and/or completion of department’s NICU orientation is required.
  • Minimum one (1) year experience in an acute critical care setting is required.

Responsibilities

  • Delivers all aspects of Respiratory Care to all age groups.
  • Assists in the orientation and training of new staff members and acts as a resource person.
  • Is able to cross train in other areas and willing to float to fulfill hospital needs.
  • Participates in department QI studies, Inservices, and meetings.
  • Recognizes the signs and symptoms of stroke and calling a stroke alert overhead.
  • Verbalizes stroke alert process.
  • Assesses and maintains airway, assists with intubation, transport of the intubated stroke patient.
  • Maintains currency in stroke knowledge by completing the annual 1 hour online training.
