About The Position

Aviso is seeking a Senior RESP/RDSP Registered Plans Administrator to join their Operations team. This role reports to the Supervisor, Specialty Products and is responsible for ensuring the administration of Registered Education Savings Plans (RESP) and Registered Savings Disability Plans (RDSP) aligns with company policies, and regulations from Employment Services Development Canada (ESDC), Canada Revenue Agency (CRA), and CIRO (formerly MFDA and IIROC). The Senior RESP/RDSP Registered Plans Administrator will act as a subject matter expert (SME), providing guidance and quality assurance to other Registered Plan Administrators and serving as the departmental contact for internal and external audits.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in registered plans administration in a CIRO (formerly IIROC or MFDA) environment.
  • Industry knowledge of CIRO (formerly MFDA and IIROC), ESDC, CRA and RQ rules and regulations.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment, including providing guidance and support to team members.
  • Strong analytical, organizational and problem-solving skills with the ability to multitask while maintaining a high level of accuracy.
  • Ability to work efficiently and effectively in a fast-paced environment meeting Service Level Agreements and time-sensitive deadlines.
  • Verbal and written communication skills in English is required.

  • Completion of the CSC or IFIC is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Act as a Subject Matter Expert of CIRO (formerly IIROC and MFDA) RESP and RDSP plans administration, providing guidance to Registered Plan RESP Administrators, ensuring quality of work.
  • Serve as the point of contact for the administration of RESP and RDSP plans and all product-related processing of requests such as contributions, withdrawals (EAP/PSE/CWD/AIP, DAP, LDAP), transfers, and specialized transactions.
  • Review various documents for accuracy and ensure transactions are completed within Service Level Agreements.
  • Complete reporting/filing to CRA and ESDC for RESP and RDSP accounts, including monthly, quarterly, and annual filings.
  • Participate in CIRO and ESDC audits adhering to internal and regulatory deadlines and guidelines.
  • Review and confirm account setup on systems, with special attention to reviewing government incentive and Annex forms for RESP and RDSP.
  • Oversee trustee reporting, working closely with trustees to ensure all policies and procedures are adhered to and communicated accordingly.
  • Actively participate in projects, industry meetings, year-end government reporting, and audits.
  • Provide leadership within the team by onboarding, training, coaching, mentoring, and supporting Registered Plans Administrators.
  • Provide backup support to the Supervisor through workload coordination, reporting, prioritization, and service level monitoring.
  • Drive operational excellence by monitoring processes, updating procedures, identifying opportunities for automation and continuous improvement, participating in system enhancements and regulatory initiatives, and fostering a positive, collaborative, and accountable team environment.
