About The Position

The Retirement Plan Administrator is responsible for the day-to-day administration, management, funding, compliance, reporting, communications, and oversight of all retirement plans offered by AHRC Nassau and its affiliate companies. The incumbent will collaborate with the Director to provide strategic leadership in managing the Retirement Plans, ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements, and supporting employees with information about their retirement options. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Five (5) years’ experience in Retirement Benefits or Human Resources or related field, or any appropriate combination of education and experience required.
  • Knowledge of retirement benefits and general human resources regulations and laws required.
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills and ability to operate efficiently autonomously required.
  • Excellent communication skills required.
  • Computer proficiency in all Microsoft Office Suite applications, including Excel required.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree and PHR or SHRM-CP (or related designation) strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Administers all retirement plans, including but not limited to 401(k), 403(b), pension, deferred compensation programs, legacy pension plans and annuity plans.
  • Serve as a resource for employees, retirees, and management/ leadership.
  • Facilitate all necessary transactions, including but not limited to employee enrollment in plans, employee contributions, loan requests, and employer contributions.
  • Ensures company stays appraised of and in compliance with provisions of Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA) and other applicable laws and regulatory guidelines.
  • Stay current on legislation and implications for benefit plans.
  • Preparation of reports and applications required by law to be filed with federal and state agencies.
  • Works closely with other personnel in HR, Finance, Payroll, and internal partners along with external vendors to conduct the daily operations and to implement the retirement benefit strategies that align with the company’s goals.
  • Work with director(s) and / or counsel to interpret plan documents, draft plan documents, prepare and file IRS determination letter application for qualified plans, assist with benefit issues, research, and assist with legal issues surrounding plan administration and corrections of plan failures under IRS rules and guidance.
  • Analyze retirement benefits costs and policies in an ongoing effort to reflect trends and maintain current legislative requirements.
  • Prepare reporting for the IRS and Department of Labor; preparing supporting forms and documentation for the proper operation and administration of employee benefits plans, including 403 (b) plans, deferred compensation plans, annuity plans and legacy pension plans.
  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations regarding retirement benefits and related plan documents.
  • Collaborates with other HR personnel to provide guidance to leadership on pay decisions, policy and guideline interpretation, and job evaluation, including the design of creative solutions to specific compensation-related programs.
  • Responsible for timely and accurate retirement plan funding for all plans and if necessary, timely corrections that may include lost earning calculations.
  • Performs other duties as requested by supervisor.
