About The Position

We are seeking a highly motivated and talente d scientist to join our Chemical Biology & Pro teomics (CBP) team at AstraZeneca in Waltham , MA . As a Senior Research Scientist , y ou will be an integral member of a team generating pre-clinical pharmacology data to understand efficacy and selectivity of therapeutic agents . Requirements

  • PhD with 2 + years of post - doc toral / industr ial experience
  • Knowledge and hands-on experience with sample preparation and method development on quantitative mass spectrometry (relative and /or absolute protein quantification)
  • Experience with mass spectrometry-based covalent screen ing , and p roven expertise with IP-MS or chemical probe- based enrichment MS workflows , and experience developing automated processes to analyze large number of samples for M S analysis
  • Skilled in investigating compound effect s under biochemical and cellular settings with q uantitative mass spectrometry , e.g. PTM s, protein complexes perturbations, etc
  • Experience in determining protein abundance and turnover by using quantitative proteomics technologies , such as TMT, SILAC, and/ or l abel-free approaches and data independent acquisition (DIA)
  • E xpertise in data analysis and an ability to communicate data interpretation clearly
  • Significant external reputation gained through professional recognition, external presentation s and publication s in high-impact journals
  • Ability to contribute with a positive, result oriented and problem-solving attitude

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in pre-clinical drug discovery
  • Experience using Thermo Q - E xactive , Orbitrap Exploris , Eclipse, Astra l Zoom or T imsTOF
  • Experience with Xcalibur , Proteome Discovere r , MaxQuant , Skyline, Spectronaut and DB search engine tools
  • Experience with liquid handling systems and robotic automation
  • Famil iarity with targeted proteomics is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Develop and employ chemical tools and proteomics technologies to p rovide impactful mechanistic insight s for drug discovery projects across therapeutic areas
  • Develop mass spectrometry-based methods to conduct covalent screens
  • Design and execute experimental plans to understand target engagement and selectivity profile s of therapeutic agents , understand drug-induced proteome dynamics and investigate post-translational modifications (PTM)
  • Represent CBP team , and communicate with project discipline leads, and contribute to generation of mechanistic hypothes i s through i nterpretation of sophisticated proteomics dat a
  • M aint ain and troubleshoot LC-MS system
