About The Position

At the Monash Proteomics and Metabolomics Platform (MPMP), we don’t just run samples, we solve complex biological puzzles. We are seeking a dynamic, independent, and collaborative Level B Research Fellow to join our world-class facility. This isn’t just a lab role. This is a pivotal position where you will act as a scientific consultant, an innovative method-developer, and a key research driver. You will work across a massive breadth of projects, supporting both brilliant academic minds and high-profile commercial clients.

Requirements

  • A PhD in Mass Spectrometry, Proteomics, Biochemistry, Protein Chemistry, or a closely related field.
  • Deep, hands-on experience with both label-free and label-based qualitative and quantitative proteomic approaches.
  • Proficiency in handling massive datasets using advanced proteomic software tools (e.g., Proteome Discoverer, Skyline, FragPipe, Spectronaut) alongside strong bioinformatic and biostatistical skills.
  • Proven track record operating a broad range of analytical instrumentation, specifically LC-MS/MS instruments.
  • A solid track record of refereed research publications and a knack for writing clear, succinct reports and research proposals.
  • Natural ability to mentor, coach, and support the development of research staff and students.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to operate seamlessly as an independent researcher and a collegiate team player.

Responsibilities

  • Independently assist collaborators and clients by designing experiments, managing sample preparation, acquiring LC-MS/MS data, and delivering sophisticated data analyses and reports.
  • Implement and refine novel proteomic methodologies and techniques to keep MPMP at the absolute forefront of the field.
  • Write and revise high-quality manuscripts, contribute to external funding proposals, and present your findings at national and international conferences.
  • Guide junior research staff and co-supervise major honours or postgraduate research projects, shaping the next generation of scientific talent.
