Join us at CHIA and be a driving force in health policy impact! We seek a Senior Research Manager to help lead and manage our growing research projects within the dynamic Strategy and Research team. The Senior Research Manager will work closely with the research team and other colleagues at CHIA, vendors, and stakeholders. She/he will help lead and support the development of practical and optimal strategies for expanding and enhancing CHIA’s capacity in addressing ongoing and emerging health care information and data gaps, particularly in the areas such as health care coverage and affordability, behavioral health, health care utilization, health care equity and social determinants of health. The Senior Research Manager will be responsible for managing analyst(s).

Requirements

  • At least five years of full-time, or equivalent part-time, professional administrative or managerial experience, the major duties of which involved project coordination, administration, and management.
  • Demonstrated experience of leading and developing high-performing teams through open communication, active listening, and a people-centered management approach. Ability to address challenges and performance concerns directly and constructively, balance employee perspectives with organizational needs, build trust and accountability, navigate difficult conversations, and provide candid, actionable feedback that supports employee growth and organizational success.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and experience with research methods, with a strong understanding of health care data and research processes. Experience in survey data processing, analysis and reporting and/or case mix, claims data analysis strongly preferred
  • Experience with statistical programs such as SAS, Stata, R, and visualization programs such as Tableau a plus.
  • Demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills, with an ability to articulate complex technical issues clearly and persuasively. Engage stakeholders and foster collaboration through compelling communication.
  • Demonstrated ability to serve as a trusted thought partner, build strong cross-team partnerships, foster collaboration, and promote a positive and inclusive team culture.
  • Advanced degree in social sciences, public policy, public health, or quantitative field required; experience in health services research, epidemiology, program evaluation, or related field strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead Strategic Project Management: Take charge of organizational excellence by crafting and overseeing work plans. In this role, you will ensure that projects are executed successfully within defined timelines while adhering to streamlined and efficient processes.
  • Lead Research Analysis: Lead the design and production of in-depth research and statistical analyses on targeted topics, primarily using CHIA data sources such as survey data, Case Mix databases, and the All-Payer Claims Database, and oversee related public reporting efforts.
  • Empower Collaborative Teams: Manage, guide, and support analyst(s) in creating, planning, and delivering high-value research and analytic products, while providing coaching and mentorship that strengthens technical skills, collaboration, and professional development. This is your chance to optimize the team's utilization of CHIA's data resources and other assets, fostering collaboration for impactful outcomes.
  • Drive Data-Backed Insights: Seize the opportunity to work with an extensive range of data on health care coverage, access, and affordability. You will be at the forefront of producing and reviewing clear and comprehensive written analyses, graphics, tables and presentations using CHIA's rich data sources to unearth crucial insights that will inform and shape health care policies and initiatives.
  • Champion Data Integrity: Lead and participate in advancing comprehensive practices in data collection, documentation, data quality assurance, and management, meticulous attention to detail and unwavering commitment to accuracy will play a crucial part in upholding the integrity of our data and analyses.
  • Engage stakeholders: Represent CHIA in stakeholder meetings, training sessions, multi-agency meetings, vendor engagement, and/or workgroups as assigned and produce high level summaries and/or presentations to relevant business units and senior managers at CHIA.
