About The Position

The Senior Relationship Manager Mid-Market (Sr RM) supports tax-exempt retirement plans (government and non-profit) with assets approximately from $50MM to $150MM. The Sr RM acts as the central point of business contact for assigned client “plan sponsor” relationships for both clients and internal personnel. May partner with plan intermediary and/or Third-Party Advisor (TPA) aligned with the plan sponsor. The Sr RM is accountable for assigned client relationships that includes overall service delivery, evaluating, improving and managing client satisfaction and risk/retention efforts, and client P&L management. This RM will work with clients in the Mid-Atlantic region and must be based in this territory and will travel occasionally.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree
  • 5+ years relevant experience
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to build rapport with clients and proactively manage client expectations
  • Ability to travel to client / prospective client meetings, internal team/SME/leadership relationship development or training is central to the role
  • FINRA 6 & 63 registrations required within established timelines
  • FINRA fingerprint required

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and retain client relationships of large tax-exempt retirement plans with an asset value typically ranging from $35 to $150 million by identifying solutions to enhance overall satisfaction, actively reducing risk of client loss and improve the financial viability of client relationships
  • Participate in new business finals presentations and client site visits, building rapport with clients and managing client expectations beginning with the sales process and continuing throughout the relationship
  • Conduct client meetings, working with internal SMEs and the service team, to bring Empower’s best thinking to clients in the areas of plan design, funding, administration, participant communications, compliance, fiduciary governance and industry trends
  • Deliver periodic plan statistical, regulatory/legislative, and industry trending presentations to clients – both via video conference and in person
  • Ascertain both the obvious and not so obvious signs of satisfaction/dissatisfaction and effectively work to positively influence client perspective
  • Navigate governance structure (e.g. Business Acceptance Committee)
  • Effectively communicate ideas/messages in a clear and succinct manner
  • Articulate Empower value proposition, participant and plan sponsor experience, and relationship management value proposition
  • Provide timely, effective and comprehensive management reporting on plan health and opportunities
  • Understand and be conversant on revenue and expense variables associated with client relationships
  • Understand capital markets and Empower’s proprietary investment management products and services
