About The Position

This full-time position will provide organizational, administrative, and policy support to the Director of the Office of Regulation and Policy Coordination. This office is part of the MDH Office of the Secretary and supports all of the Department’s regulatory and policy activities, including Maryland’s Medicaid Program, Public Health Programs, the Office of Health Care Quality, the Developmental Disabilities Administration, the Behavioral Health Administration, and Maryland’s health occupations licensing boards. The role serves as the primary administrative and policy analysis support for the Director. This position will assist the Director in creating, modifying, refreshing, or retiring regulations (COMAR) based on legislative or policy changes. It will also collaborate with MDH units to research, recommend, and draft health policy, guidance, and regulations. Additionally, the position will lead initiatives to implement system-wide changes as delegated by the Director. This role is crucial for the administrative and day-to-day aspects of successful regulation promulgation, supporting MDH’s compliance with evolving federal and state legislation and regulations. This position is hybrid telework eligible.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.
  • Six years of administrative staff or professional work.
  • Candidates may substitute 30 credit hours from an accredited college or university for each year up to four years of the required experience.
  • Candidates may substitute the possession of a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and two years of experience in administrative staff or professional work for the required experience.
  • Candidates may substitute the possession of a Master's degree from an accredited college or university for five years of the required experience.
  • Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer involving staff work related to the administration of rules, regulations, policy, procedures and processes, or overseeing or coordinating unit operations or functioning as a staff assistant to a higher ranking commissioned officer on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.
  • Possession of a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland may be required if assigned duties require the operation of a motor vehicle.

Responsibilities
