About The Position

This is an open position with FirstEnergy Service Company, a subsidiary of FirstEnergy Corp. This is a full-time, on-site position located in Columbus, OH.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Economics, Finance, Mathematics or related field is required.
  • Minimum 10 years professional work experience required, with rates or regulatory accounting experience preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, PowerPoint, Access, and Word) and SAP.
  • Must be willing to travel for business to other company locations and the state capital for hearings, meetings and other activities, which may include overnight travel.
  • Demonstrate a questioning attitude to learn, produce results and develop relationships.
  • Demonstrate analytical abilities, including problem solving and decision making.
  • Deliver quality, accurate work within established deadlines.
  • Effective written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a diverse team environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Advanced degree or CPA is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Develop, manage, and maintain positive business relationships with the Public Utility Commission.
  • Service as a key liaison for FirstEnergy to the Public Utility Commission.
  • Communicate with external stakeholders on a wide range of issues.
  • Monitor, analyze, and report on all regulatory matters at the Public Utility Commission and assist in making recommendations to management to support decision making.
  • Assist in developing and executing regulatory strategies that advance the goals of the company.
  • Coordinate regulatory activities with applicable FirstEnergy business units such as External Affairs, Legal, Rates, Operations, and Finance to ensure proper alignment with business objectives.
  • Coordinates cross-functional teams that address escalated complaints to the Public Utility Commission to ensure proper resolution.
  • Ability to understand the company’s objectives, their financial implications and be able to communicate them to stakeholders.
  • Understand and stay current on all applicable laws, pending legislation, administrative rules and policies that impact FirstEnergy.
  • Act with a high degree of integrity, honesty, and credibility when representing the company.
  • Communicate ideas related to regulatory, legislative, and policy opportunities to advance the company’s business objectives.
  • Represent FirstEnergy at industry meetings, conferences, and events.
