About The Position

The Senior Recruitment Lead – Sales Assistant Hiring is responsible for the end‑to‑end planning, technical delivery, and operational execution of all Sales Assistant recruitment across UK & Ireland stores, including existing stores, new openings, and high‑volume peak trading periods. This is a senior, hands‑on recruitment role, with accountability for recruitment delivery, standards, forecasting, systems, and outcomes for Sales Assistant hiring. The role requires a strong balance of technical recruitment expertise, people leadership, organisation, and forward planning, operating confidently in a fast‑paced retail environment where priorities can change quickly. The role ensures recruitment activity is delivered accurately, efficiently, and at pace, while maintaining a high‑quality, inclusive candidate and stakeholder experience.

Requirements

  • Significant experience delivering high‑volume retail recruitment end to end
  • Strong technical recruitment experience, including ATS, careers websites, job portals, and referral schemes
  • Managerial or supervisory experience, with the ability to lead, prioritise, and oversee recruitment activity
  • Highly organised with excellent attention to detail and accuracy
  • Comfortable working in a fast‑paced, high‑pressure retail environment
  • Strong people skills with the ability to build trust, influence, and manage challenging conversations
  • Forward‑thinking, proactive, and able to plan well ahead
  • Confident balancing strategic planning with hands‑on operational delivery

Responsibilities

  • Lead and deliver the full recruitment lifecycle for Sales Assistant roles, from workforce planning and attraction through to offer and onboarding
  • Deliver recruitment for existing stores, new store openings, refurbishments, relocations, and peak trading periods
  • Plan, manage, and oversee high‑volume interview schedules, assessment activity, and recruitment events
  • Ensure recruitment delivery meets agreed timelines, quality standards, and operational requirements
  • Act as the technical owner for Sales Assistant recruitment systems and processes
  • Manage and optimise the ATS, ensuring data accuracy, compliance, and effective candidate tracking
  • Work confidently with the careers website, understanding functionality, application flow, and candidate journeys
  • Manage and optimise job postings across external job portals and attraction platforms
  • Own and support Refer‑a‑Friend recruitment processes, ensuring clear communication and smooth delivery
  • Identify technical or system issues quickly and work proactively to resolve them
  • Use recruitment data, reporting, and dashboards to track progress, identify risks, and inform decision‑making
  • Forecast Sales Assistant recruitment demand in line with trading patterns, store requirements, and business plans
  • Translate forecasts into structured, forward‑looking recruitment plans with clear timelines and priorities
  • Anticipate pressure points and peak periods, planning recruitment activity well in advance
  • Adapt plans quickly in response to operational changes while maintaining pace and control
  • Lead and coordinate Sales Assistant recruitment activity across locations and brands
  • Provide day‑to‑day direction, prioritisation, and guidance on recruitment delivery and standards
  • Maintain oversight of interview activity, workload distribution, and recruitment timelines
  • Act as a point of escalation for operational recruitment challenges and risks
  • Ensure consistent recruitment practices, decision‑making, and candidate experience
  • Build strong, credible relationships with HR Managers, Store Managers, and field teams
  • Communicate clearly, confidently, and calmly in high‑pressure situations
  • Influence and advise stakeholders on recruitment decisions, timelines, and market conditions
  • Balance challenge with pragmatism and a solutions‑focused approach
  • Ensure a positive, inclusive, and well‑managed candidate experience at all stages of the recruitment process
  • Lead recruitment campaigns, job shows, and in‑store hiring initiatives
  • Ensure consistency of messaging, tone of voice, and professionalism across all recruitment communications
  • Ensure recruitment activity is fair, inclusive, and compliant with company policies and processes
  • Track recruitment KPIs, delivery performance, and quality metrics
  • Identify opportunities to improve recruitment systems, processes, and candidate journeys
  • Maintain regular store presence to support recruitment delivery and understand operational needs
  • Travel to stores for interviews, recruitment events, and new store openings as required
