About The Position

Under the direction of the Director of Student Services, the Senior Recruitment and Engagement Specialist will design, and scale recruitment and engagement initiatives for the John Glenn College of Public Affairs in order to recruit, enroll, and retain graduate and undergraduate students at the college. This position manages complex, high-impact programs; exercises independent judgment within established strategies and frameworks; and contributes to the refinement and improvement of new practices, strategies, and solutions that support enrollment growth, student access, and long-term pipeline development. The role requires an experienced professional capable of managing initiatives of large scope, collaborating with partners across and beyond the college, and contributing to the advancement of recruitment and engagement efforts aligned with institutional priorities. In this role, the Senior Recruitment and Engagement Specialist serves as a strategic leader for recruitment, enrollment, and early student engagement initiatives across multiple populations and programs. The position integrates large-scale recruitment planning, relationship development, and data-informed outreach with hands-on execution of events, communications, and high-impact programs. Responsibilities span prospective student recruitment, pipeline development, admissions and program operations, student organization support, and teaching, requiring the ability to manage complex initiatives simultaneously while tailoring strategies and messaging to diverse audiences. Through sustained collaboration with university partners, community stakeholders, and internal teams, this role advances enrollment goals, strengthens access pathways, and enhances the overall visibility and impact of the Glenn College.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in an appropriate field or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 4 years of experience recruiting and student engagement in an academic setting required
  • excellent written and verbal communication skills

Responsibilities

  • Independently implements, and evaluates comprehensive recruitment strategies to increase applications and enrollment for undergraduate and graduate programs, with enrollment growth as a central institutional priority.
  • Coordinates complex, large-scale outreach initiatives, including coordinated high school, college, and community college engagement.
  • Represents the Glenn College at on-campus, virtual, and off-campus recruitment events, exercising professional discretion in messaging and approach for varied audiences; travel may include in-state and out-of-state engagement encompassing graduate school fairs and collaborative yield trips with Undergraduate Admissions.
  • Contributes to recruitment strategies for new and evolving academic offerings and creates targeted, data-informed plans for new student recruitment initiatives.
  • Cultivates relationships with recruitment stakeholders including high school guidance counselors, teachers, and university recruitment staff in order to build pipelines to high school student populations.
  • Serves as a primary point of contact for prospective students and families, delivering complex and sensitive information with accuracy and professionalism.
  • Serves as the primary coordinator for recruitment, admissions, and programmatic operations of high-impact initiatives, including the John Glenn Learning Community and NextGen Glenn initiatives for high school students.
  • Collaborates with the Office of Residence Life to deliver a slate of student programs related to policy, leadership, and service.
  • Administers established civic engagement and leadership initiatives, provides guidance and mentoring for Glenn College student organizations, and independently teaches Public Affairs 2160: Exploring Public Affairs on an annual basis
  • Manages efforts aimed at recruiting existing Ohio State students into Glenn College programs including second majors, minors, graduate minors, certificates, and internship programs.
  • Collaborates with Advancement and internal partners to execute coordinated communications, including social media strategies, newsletters, and targeted recruitment campaigns that support enrollment objectives.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
