About The Position

First Street is seeking a Senior Recruiter to identify, recruit, and secure top-tier talent for the organization. This role is ideal for someone passionate about team building, process development, contributing to broader People initiatives, and thriving in a growth-stage company environment. The Senior Recruiter will be instrumental in scaling First Street during a period of significant organizational growth, with the opportunity to support hiring across various functions including go-to-market, product, engineering, operations, and climate science. While recruiting will be the primary focus, there will be occasional opportunities to contribute to onboarding and other People initiatives. This position offers high visibility to leadership as First Street expands its teams and capabilities. The Senior Recruiter will report to the Director of People.

Requirements

  • 4-10 years of full-cycle recruiting experience in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong understanding of recruiting best practices.
  • Mission alignment with an interest in the climate technology space.
  • Experience supporting diverse teams across different domains.
  • Direct experience working with executive team members.
  • Experience with an Applicant Tracking System (ATS) such as Greenhouse, Lever, or Ashby.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and relationship-building skills.
  • Enthusiasm for early-stage company dynamics, including process building, resourcefulness, and hands-on involvement (no recruiting coordinators or sourcers).

Nice To Haves

  • Subject matter expertise in Go-to-Market (GTM) recruiting.
  • Recruiting experience at a Seed round through Series B company.
  • Experience building sourcing agents with Claude Code.
  • Understanding and ability to pitch stock options to potential employees.
  • Previous experience with Ashby.
  • A blend of agency and in-house recruiting experience.
  • Prior experience and a network of talent in New York City.
  • Prior experience and a network of talent within the Climate Tech space.
  • Interest in gaining exposure and assisting with People Operations, particularly onboarding.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the entire recruiting process from role initiation to offer closing.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to hiring managers and leadership on hiring strategies, talent market trends, interview design, and candidate calibration.
  • Develop candidate pipelines through various inbound and outbound sourcing channels, including the company job board, LinkedIn, and personal networks.
  • Contribute to refining and scaling recruiting processes, interview practices, and talent operations.
  • Execute searches in specialized and competitive talent markets, prioritizing speed, quality, and candidate experience.
  • Utilize AI tools such as Claude, ChatGPT, and Gemini.
  • Conduct recruiter screens to assess alignment with company stage and mission, as well as domain expertise.
  • Leverage data-driven insights to enhance recruiting efficiency and inform hiring decisions.
  • Ensure an exceptional candidate experience.
  • Act as an expert user of internal recruiting tools and processes.
  • Maintain high data integrity within Ashby.
  • Work from the NYC HQ at least three times per week.
