Senior Recruiter - Executive and Leadership

Mercury•San Francisco, NY

About The Position

Mercury is hiring a Senior Recruiter to join its small executive recruiting team and partner with founders and executives on Director-to-C-suite hiring. Most searches will be for Director and VP roles, primarily in Engineering, Product, Design, and Data. The recruiter will also build relationships with senior leaders before roles open and support hiring sprints when business needs arise. Mercury builds banking and financial software for startups and growing businesses. It is a fintech company, not an FDIC-insured bank; banking services are provided through Choice Financial Group and Column N.A., Members FDIC.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of full-cycle, in-house recruiting experience across a range of functions at a growing company.
  • Experience running Director-level or higher searches and interest in making those searches the primary focus of the role.
  • A track record of serving as a trusted advisor to senior hiring managers; experience advising CTOs, VPs of Engineering, or product leaders is preferred.
  • Relationships with senior professionals built before recruiting needs arise.
  • Clear and precise writing and communication skills.
  • Experience with LinkedIn Recruiter, Greenhouse, Gem, Metaview, or similar tools.

Nice To Haves

  • Technical leadership recruiting experience in Engineering, Product, Data, or Security.
  • Recruiting experience at a fintech or other regulated technology company.
  • Experience running events, dinners, or communities for senior talent.
  • Experience at a retained search firm before moving in-house.

Responsibilities

  • Run full-cycle Director and VP searches, focusing on leadership in Engineering, Product, Design, and Data.
  • Work with hiring managers to define role scope and team needs, then develop market maps and target lists.
  • Discuss role scope, teams, and tradeoffs with senior candidates and represent Mercury's leadership in candidate conversations.
  • Use market data to advise hiring managers, challenge specifications that are unlikely to attract candidates, and identify stalled searches early.
  • Host executive talent events and build a network of leaders for anticipated openings over the next 12 to 24 months.
  • Support hiring sprints and other high-priority searches across Mercury.
  • Provide senior candidates with a memorable experience throughout the process, from initial outreach through offer.

Benefits

  • Base salary, equity (stock options/RSUs), and benefits are included in Mercury's total rewards package.
