About The Position

This position assists in planning, organizing, developing, and supervising activities for participants of varying ages. The role involves supervising specified Recreation Leader staff members and performing duties under general supervision. The work schedule is Monday - Friday, 1:00 pm - 6:00 pm, with potential weekend work for special events. Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED certification.
  • At least 2 years of verifiable supervisory experience in childcare, recreation programming or related field OR AA Degree diploma or above with One (1) year of verifiable supervisory experience in a related or unrelated field.
  • Must possess a valid Florida Driver's License, with a good driving record.
  • Must possess or obtain CPR, AED, and First Aid Certification within 30 days of hire.
  • Applicants selected for positions working with vulnerable populations must successfully complete Florida Care Provider Background Screening Clearinghouse procedures.
  • Ability to respond to supervision, guidance and direction of superiors in a positive, receptive manner.
  • Ability to be appropriately groomed and attired to present a professional image.
  • Ability to report for work promptly and properly prepared.
  • Ability to notify appropriate supervisor of intended absences.
  • Ability to conform with standards and rules regarding use of accrued time.
  • Ability to demonstrate a polite, helpful and courteous manner when engaged with the public.
  • Ability to operate and care for equipment to manufacturer’s specifications.
  • Ability to demonstrate an understanding, consideration, and respect of cultural, religious, and gender differences.

Responsibilities

  • Plans, coordinates and supervises various recreational activities, games, programs, field trips, events and sporting activities for age groups between pre-school aged to senior citizens
  • Supervise a specified group of participants (adults and children) indoors and outdoors, some with special needs.
  • Provide and maintain a safe environment for the participants and complete injury and/or incident reports, as required.
  • Conduct Crisis Response Drills, Fire Drills, and all emergency preparedness procedures
  • Foster positive employee relations and employee morale on a City-wide basis.
  • Drive recreation van on required field trips as may be required.
  • Be available to work four (4) mandatory special events (July 4th, Tree Lighting, Holiday Parade, and St Patrick’s Parade).
