About The Position

Nelson Mullins, an AM Law 100 firm, is seeking a Senior Records Assistant to join their DC office as part of the Information Governance Department. In this role, the assistant will work closely with attorneys and business professionals across various offices to ensure that information is managed, moved, and protected in strict accordance with firm policies, regulatory requirements, and established Information Governance (IG) best practices. The position encompasses a broad spectrum of records and information governance functions. Key responsibilities include the management of both physical and electronic records according to firm policies, the processing and integration of documents into enterprise systems, and facilitating client data movement across offices as part of Matter Mobility and broader data lifecycle initiatives. The Senior Records Assistant will also be involved in assisting with records retrieval, tracking, audits, and compliance efforts. A significant aspect of the role involves partnering with attorneys and staff to promote and implement IG best practices, as well as actively participating in projects aimed at system, data, and process improvement. Periodic travel to regional offices may be a requirement for this position.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • Ability to manage both physical and electronic records with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Willingness to travel and assist with records handling, including lifting and moving boxes as needed

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in a law firm or professional services environment
  • Familiarity with records or document management systems (such as NetDocuments, FileTrail, or similar platforms)
