About The Position

The Senior Quality Engineer at Materion will work under the direction of the Quality Manager, focusing on the Quality Management System (QMS) to achieve quality objectives and enhance customer satisfaction. Key responsibilities include developing metrics for the overall business Quality System, leading problem-solving processes (e.g., 8D, 5 Why, 7D) to address customer complaints, audit findings, and Return Material Authorizations, and driving process quality improvements in collaboration with Process Engineering. The role also involves maintaining the Nonconforming Material Process, reducing non-conformances using Lean and Six Sigma techniques, participating in customer audits and visits, and serving as a backup to the Quality Manager or Quality Supervisor. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a technical field required.
  • Export compliance eligibility for access to U.S. controlled technology which comes under the licensing jurisdiction of the U.S. Department of State, International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and the U.S. Department of Commerce, Export Administration Regulations (EAR).
  • Qualify as either a U.S. citizen, a U.S. National, a lawful permanent resident of the U.S., a Person Admitted into the U.S. as an Asylee or Refugee., a National of a country that is not prohibited from having access to U.S. controlled technology (via a letter of assurance), or a Person to be approved for an export license by the governing agency whose technology comes under its jurisdiction.

Nice To Haves

  • Metallurgy, material science, chemistry or chemical engineering degree.
  • Lean and or Six Sigma Green Belt certification or 2-3yrs of Continuous Improvement experience.
  • Project Management experience.
  • Experience and knowledge of manufacturing systems, the quality function and technical products.
  • Experience with calibration, metrology and quality system auditing.

Responsibilities

  • Aides in developing metrics that track and report status of the overall business Quality System (i.e. Cost of Quality, customer complaints, product non-conformances, etc).
  • Project leader for Problem Solving Processes (8D, 5 Why, 7D, etc) to resolve Customer complaints, Customer audit findings or Return Material Authorizations in a timely manner that prevents reoccurrence.
  • Drive process quality improvements working with Process Engineering through the implementation of automated process controls, SPC, sampling systems, enhanced manufacturing procedures and utilization of statistical techniques.
  • Maintains the Nonconforming Material Process and develops actions to reduce non-conformances through Lean and Six Sigma techniques.
  • Member of customer audits and customer visit teams.
  • Acts as a back up to the Quality Manager or Quality Supervisor.
