Responsibilities

  • Own and continuously improve Quality Control manuals, SOPs, inspection protocols, workmanship standards, measurement tolerances, and escalation procedures.
  • Lead, coach, and coordinate the global QC team, setting priorities, inspection coverage, reporting standards, training, and consistent execution across sourcing countries.
  • Oversee pre-production, inline, pre-final, and final inspections using company and customer requirements and recognized sampling methodologies, including AQL where applicable.
  • Review third-party and internal inspection reports and make or recommend shipment release, hold, re-inspection, or corrective-action decisions within established authority.
  • Own corrective and preventive action (CAPA) for quality failures, requiring root-cause analysis, documented recovery plans, effectiveness verification, and timely closure of recurring issues.
  • Partner with factories and sourcing teams to maintain accurate WIP and quality status, identify risks, and escalate issues that could affect quality, compliance, cost, or delivery.
  • Review finished-garment construction, measurements, workmanship, trims, labeling, packaging, and other product requirements against approved specifications and customer standards.
  • Coordinate product testing with approved laboratories and suppliers, including performance, colorfastness, dimensional stability, fiber/content, flammability, chemical, and other required testing.
  • Maintain product-compliance controls for applicable U.S. and customer requirements, including CPSC/CPSIA, CPC/GCC documentation, tracking labels, FTC labeling rules, restricted substances, and other applicable federal and state requirements.

  • Lead factory quality evaluations and supplier improvement initiatives to strengthen in-process controls, reduce recurring defects, and improve first-pass quality.
  • Manage factory and mill compliance onboarding documentation, including CTPAT, social-compliance certifications, and individual customer certifications such as Walmart, Costco, FOL, and Kontoor.
  • Manage procedures for reporting yearly certifications on an annual basis.
  • Develop supplier quality scorecards and analyze defect, inspection, testing, return/claim, and CAPA trends; present monthly reporting, risks, priorities, and recommendations to leadership.
  • Manage the QC operating budget and review monthly quality-control expenses for accuracy, trends, and cost-effectiveness opportunities.
  • Support customer quality/compliance requests, audits, and investigations, and maintain organized records demonstrating conformity to company and customer requirements.
  • Partner cross-functionally on new suppliers, product categories, high-risk programs, and quality issues requiring technical or commercial decisions.
  • Act as the senior escalation point for material product-quality and product-compliance issues and communicate risks to Sourcing and business leadership.
  • Balance quality, compliance, delivery, and commercial considerations without compromising required safety or regulatory standards.
  • Build accountability within the QC team and supplier base through documented standards, consistent follow-up, and fact-based performance reviews.
  • Use inspection and testing data to identify systemic causes, improve factory processes, and drive prevention rather than relying only on detection.
