The Senior Public Safety Officer inspires confidence by presenting a professional, approachable, and service-oriented demeanor. They are alert, observant, ethical, and comply with and enforce all safety and security rules and regulations. This role involves routine patrols, inspections to identify vulnerabilities, audits of Interim Life Safety Measures, patient valuables management, and contraband searches. The officer will assist team members, patients, and visitors, ensure traffic control, and monitor conduct on premises. Responsibilities include preventing, responding to, and investigating workplace violence, and responding to service calls such as combative patients or team member incidents. The role serves as a primary resource for de-escalation, utilizing use of force when necessary, and plays a key role in planning, preventing, practicing, and responding to emergencies like lost infants, fire, and active threats. The officer will investigate incidents, complete reports, and address/escalate complaints. They will also perform liaison rounding to build partnerships with departments, deliver security awareness education, and liaise with external law enforcement agencies. Additionally, this role assists with training, serves as a preceptor for probationary officers, implements their orientation and onboarding, and maintains training records. The officer will maintain current training standards in radio communications, de-escalation, hemorrhage control, CPR, clinical restraints, and conducted energy weapons. They will also assist with exterior traffic and crowd control, and utilize interview and interrogation tactics. The role emphasizes a community-oriented approach to patrolling.
