The Senior Public Safety Officer provides security services with a customer-service approach, focusing on professionalism, fairness, and compassion even in challenging circumstances and in accordance with policies, procedures, and training. This role inspires confidence in patients, visitors, and team members by presenting a professional, approachable, and service-oriented appearance and demeanor. The officer is alert, observant, and ethical, complying with and enforcing all safety and security rules and regulations, and maintaining their Department uniform and equipment in good repair. Responsibilities include performing routine patrols to ensure safety and security, assisting team members, patients, and visitors, ensuring traffic control, monitoring conduct of visitors, preventing and investigating workplace violence, and responding to service calls. The Senior Public Safety Officer serves as a primary resource for de-escalation, utilizing use of force when necessary, and performs key responsibilities to plan, prevent, practice, and respond to emergencies. They investigate incidents, address and escalate complaints, perform liaison rounding duties, and deliver security awareness education. This role also liaisons with law enforcement, coordinates prisoner patient guards, and serves as a training resource, preceptor for probationary officers, and field instructor. Additionally, they maintain current training standards in various areas, assist with exterior traffic and crowd control, and utilize interview and interrogation tactics.
