This role assists in the nursing care of the mentally ill by implementing various types of psychiatric treatment plans for groups of patients, including group interventions. The Senior Psychiatric Technician may coordinate the work of a Nursing Assistant or equivalent position as required. They deliver health care services to patients and their families according to the interdisciplinary treatment plan, independently implementing the plan for an assigned group of patients, including group interventions. They revise and modify the plan in response to changes in patient and alterations in therapeutic approach, and participate in planning conferences. The role integrates multidisciplinary approaches to complete patient assessments and coordinate health care services across the continuum, demonstrating problem-solving and critical thinking skills in developing health care interventions. They participate in various therapeutic activities such as role playing, behavior modification, modeling, reality orientation, etc. Collaboration with patients, family members, and the interdisciplinary treatment team is key to delivering quality services. The position also involves participating in ongoing staff development programs, workshops, and seminars, and implementing orientation and training for peer staff development, including new Psychiatric Technicians. Furthermore, they participate in unit-based research and quality improvement, involving data collection and documentation of patient and family services, and record relevant data, reporting it to appropriate staff. Performs other duties as assigned by Registered Nurse.

Requirements

Associate's Degree and one year of experience in a human services field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities
