About The Position

Peraton is seeking an experienced Proposal Manager to work in its Herndon, Virginia office. The role is responsible for all aspects of proposal development, including directing and coordinating Proposal Volume Leads, writers, and consultants to produce high-quality, winning proposals. The Proposal Manager works closely with the Capture Manager, Business Development Executive, and Lead Solution Architect to develop and articulate technical and management solutions for proposals, whitepapers, oral presentations, and other business materials. The position also leads proposal staff and coordinators and may contribute to proposal writing. Peraton uses an AI tool for content creation, compliance, and reviews; familiarity with AI is desired.

The successful candidate will communicate with Sector and Business Area personnel, proposal coordinators, consultants, and teammates to create compelling documents. They should be a self-starter who takes initiative, makes informed decisions, and maintains proposal momentum in low-resource or ambiguous environments. The role requires a flexible schedule that may include evenings and weekends when required.

Requirements

• At least 12 years of relevant professional experience as a Proposal Manager.
• At least 6 years of a successful track record winning proposal efforts valued at $200 million or more.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office business applications, including SharePoint.
• Proven proposal leadership skills, including building strong teams, resolving conflict effectively, and directing appropriate resources.
• Experience keeping teams focused on developing compliant, compelling, competitive, winning documents.
• Extensive experience mentoring and coaching less experienced staff and senior operations staff who are new to proposal writing.
• Ability to work with little direction and manage multiple tasks.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule, which may include evenings and weekends when required.
• U.S. citizenship.

Responsibilities

• Manage proposal development from assignment and receipt of an RFP through delivery to and receipt by the customer, including writing, editing, illustration, and production.
• Assist in identifying and securing resources needed to develop proposals.
• Analyze solicitations and related customer requirements and communications, and determine the final document structure.
• Prepare detailed proposal plans, schedule outlines, and compliance matrices for assigned pursuits.
• Coordinate and lead major proposal events, including kickoff meetings, strategy meetings, and color team reviews.
• Assist with or lead content development and storyboarding, and develop strategic strengths and discriminators.
• Develop and manage proposal schedules and meet deliverable and production deadlines.
• Provide detailed guidance to proposal writers, contributors, and subcontractors.
• Manage writing assignments and receipt of proposal materials from authors and teaming partners according to the project timeline.
• Ensure proposal center processes and standard style guides are followed and documents are submitted according to established guidelines.
• Manage the collection and editing of proposal materials to ensure compliance with solicitation requirements.
• Ensure proposals comply with section L&M or similar instructions and requirements.
• Communicate proposal-related requirements and status to senior management, as appropriate.
• Monitor solicitation amendments and modifications and remain current on them.
• Lead proposal staff and coordinators and contribute to proposal writing efforts when required.
