About The Position
Langan is seeking a Senior Project Transportation Planner in California to join its growing transportation and infrastructure practice. This individual will contribute to the planning and delivery of a variety of transportation-related projects for both public and private sector clients. The role involves supporting multimodal transportation planning, mobility analysis, and infrastructure initiatives while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams. The ideal candidate brings strong technical knowledge, project management experience, and a collaborative, client-focused approach.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Transportation Planning, Civil Engineering, Urban Planning, or a related field.
- 12+ years of relevant experience in transportation planning and/or traffic engineering.
- Professional licensure (PE, TE, or similar) required.
- In-depth knowledge of transportation planning principles, policies, and analytical methodologies.
- Demonstrated project management and client management experience.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.
Nice To Haves
- Experience with transportation analysis tools and GIS platforms is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage transportation planning and traffic analysis projects from proposal through completion.
- Serve as a key point of contact for clients and project stakeholders.
- Prepare and oversee technical studies and documentation, including: Transportation impact analyses, Mobility and multimodal planning studies, Environmental review documentation (as applicable), Parking and access evaluations.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including civil engineering, environmental, and land development professionals.
- Develop project scopes, schedules, budgets, and staffing plans.
- Mentor junior staff and provide technical guidance and quality control.
- Present findings and recommendations to clients and stakeholders.
- Support business development efforts, including proposal preparation and client engagement.
