About The Position

HITT Contracting is looking for an experienced Senior Project Manager to join our Los Angeles team, based out of our El Segundo, CA office. The Senior Project Manager will provide leadership, oversight, and strategic direction across multiple project teams. This individual will be responsible for ensuring APMs and PMs have the guidance and resources needed to successfully deliver their projects while maintaining HITT’s standards for safety, quality, financial performance, schedule, and client satisfaction. The ideal candidate is an experienced construction leader who knows how to develop people, oversee multiple project teams, build strong client relationships, and identify risks before they become problems.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of commercial construction experience with a general contractor
  • Demonstrated experience leading and developing Assistant Project Managers, Project Managers, and project teams
  • Strong experience providing oversight across multiple projects and teams simultaneously
  • Experience with commercial construction projects ranging from approximately $5M–$30M
  • Proven ability to mentor project management professionals and help them successfully manage demanding project portfolios
  • Strong understanding of project financials, scheduling, contracts, procurement, change management, subcontractor management, and construction operations
  • Ability to maintain a high-level view across multiple projects while knowing when to become directly involved in project-level challenges
  • Strong leadership and people-management skills with a passion for developing and mentoring team members
  • Excellent client-facing, communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills
  • Proven ability to develop and maintain client relationships and contribute to new business opportunities
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university with a concentration in Construction Management, Engineering, Business, or a related field strongly preferred
  • In lieu of a degree, additional relevant construction experience will be considered
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite

Responsibilities

  • Lead, manage, and develop Assistant Project Managers and Project Managers responsible for portfolios of approximately 5–8 active projects at a time
  • Provide executive-level oversight across commercial construction projects typically ranging from $5M–$30M in value
  • Mentor and develop APMs and PMs, helping strengthen their technical knowledge, leadership abilities, and overall project management capabilities
  • Establish clear expectations and hold project teams accountable for safety, quality, schedule, financial performance, and client satisfaction
  • Maintain visibility across each team's project portfolio, proactively identifying potential risks, challenges, and resource needs
  • Guide project teams through the full project lifecycle, from preconstruction and RFP through construction, turnover, and closeout
  • Ensure APMs and PMs effectively manage project budgets, schedules, contracts, procurement, change management, and overall financial performance
  • Maintain adherence to HITT’s standards of safety and ensure all project processes are followed in accordance with company policies
  • Support project teams in resolving complex scope, subcontractor, scheduling, contractual, and client-related challenges
  • Ensure project Quality Control Plans are properly implemented and maintained
  • Partner with project teams to evaluate staffing and resource needs across the portfolio
  • Ensure proper assignment, development, and evaluation of project and field personnel
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients while serving as a senior point of escalation when needed
  • Support PMs in navigating difficult client conversations, contract negotiations, and project challenges
  • Identify and negotiate time extensions when justified and allowed
  • Maintain positive and productive relationships within the subcontractor community
  • Lead and support preconstruction and RFP efforts in partnership with the Preconstruction Department and other company resources
  • Help identify and pursue new business opportunities while expanding relationships with existing clients
  • Ensure teams maintain an organized and timely project closeout process
  • Balance staffing, priorities, and resources across multiple project teams to keep projects moving forward
  • Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, mentorship, and continuous development within the Los Angeles team
