About The Position

We are seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager to lead the successful delivery of large-scale heavy civil construction projects from pre-construction through completion. This role is responsible for project planning, execution, financial performance, client relationships, and overall project success. The Senior Project Manager will also play an important leadership role within the Operations team, providing mentorship and guidance to Project Managers and Project Coordinators while supporting the development of processes, tools, and best practices across the department.

Requirements

  • An undergraduate degree, B.A.Sc. (Civil Engineering) or Civil Engineering Technologist Diploma, or relevant education is required.
  • 10+ years of Project Management experience in heavy civil construction, with 5+ years managing municipal integrated sewer and water infrastructure projects.
  • Demonstrated experience independently managing projects valued at $15 million or higher is required.
  • 5+ years of leadership or management experience, with a proven ability to mentor and develop others.
  • Strong experience managing project budgets, financial performance, contracts, schedules, and change orders.
  • Demonstrated communication, negotiation, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office
  • You hold a valid driver’s license with access to a vehicle.

  • experience with HCSS, Primavera, eCMS, AutoCAD, or Bluebeam is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the planning, coordination, and execution of projects from award through completion, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with contract requirements.
  • Review contracts, specifications, estimates, schedules, and project requirements to establish project objectives, budgets, and execution plans.
  • Coordinate with Estimating, Superintendents, Project Coordinators, subcontractors, suppliers, consultants, and clients to effectively manage project delivery.
  • Manage project documentation, contracts, purchase orders, subcontracts, permits, shop drawings, change orders, claims, and other contractual requirements.
  • Monitor project progress, quality, scope, and production. Identify risks, delays, or changes and implement solutions to keep projects on track.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships and serve as the primary point of contact for project-related matters.
  • Conduct regular site visits and ensure project close-out, deficiencies, and contractual obligations are completed.
  • Develop and manage project budgets, forecasts, cost tracking, progress billings, subcontractor payments, and change orders.
  • Monitor financial performance and forecast costs to completion, identifying risks and opportunities that may impact profitability.
  • Provide regular financial and project status updates to senior management and contribute to project close-out and lessons learned.
  • Mentor, coach, and provide guidance to Project Managers and Project Coordinators, including supporting onboarding, training, and development.
  • Provide technical and operational guidance on project challenges, problem-solving, and client management.
  • Support the Director of Operations and senior leadership in developing and improving project management processes, tools, templates, and best practices.
