Tencent•Palo Alto, CA
•$90,500 - $170,300

About The Position

Tencent Finance is seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager for its Finance IT Management Department to lead end-to-end Workday Financials implementations. The role owns delivery from initiation and planning through design, configuration, data migration, testing, cutover, go-live, and post-go-live stabilization across multiple legal entities, regions, and business lines. The position emphasizes rigorous, realistic, dependency-aware planning and consistent execution. The Senior Project Manager coordinates Finance and IT teams, implementation partners, and Workday resources in a fast-paced multinational environment; keeps concurrent workstreams on schedule; and identifies and addresses risks before they affect the critical path. The role also manages partner and vendor delivery, budgets, scope and change governance, finance process alignment, internal controls, change management, and user enablement. Project standards and documentation are maintained using tools such as Jira, Confluence, and MS Project or Smartsheet.

Requirements

  • 7 or more years of project or program management experience in enterprise applications, including at least 3 full-lifecycle ERP implementations delivered in a project management role.
  • Proven expertise in project planning, schedule and budget control, dependency tracking, and scope and change governance.
  • Demonstrated ability to anticipate, assess, and mitigate delivery risks across complex programs.
  • Track record delivering large-scale, multi-country ERP or finance transformation programs for multinational enterprises, including multi-entity, multi-currency, and multi-ledger environments.
  • Solid working knowledge of Workday Financials modules, such as Financial Accounting, Supplier and Customer Accounts, Procurement, Expenses, Business Assets, Banking and Settlement, Projects, and financial reporting.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects in parallel, with strong prioritization, resource management, and organizational skills.
  • Experience managing implementation partners and system integrators, including SOW management, deliverable acceptance, performance management, and escalation.
  • Experience leading data migration, integrations—including banking, tax, procurement, HR, and legacy SAP or Oracle systems—and cutover planning.
  • Hands-on proficiency with Jira, Confluence, MS Project, or Smartsheet, and experience with Agile, Waterfall, and hybrid delivery methodologies.
  • Working knowledge of core finance processes, including record-to-report, procure-to-pay, period close, and fixed assets, and their related internal control environment.
  • Willingness to work across U.S., Asia, and Europe time zones and to travel occasionally based on project needs.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Information Systems, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Ability to communicate in English and Mandarin with international teams; preferred but not required.
  • Finance system implementation experience in gaming, internet, media, or other high-growth technology industries.
  • Workday Financials certification or prior delivery experience with a Workday implementation partner.
  • PMP, PgMP, PRINCE2, Scrum, or SAFe certification.
  • Experience establishing or operating a PMO for a multi-year finance transformation roadmap.

Responsibilities

  • Own end-to-end delivery of Workday Financials implementations, from initiation and planning through build, testing, cutover, go-live, and stabilization.
  • Build and maintain integrated project plans covering scope, milestones, deliverables, dependencies, and resources, keeping the critical path visible and realistic.
  • Drive day-to-day execution by tracking progress against the baseline, driving open items to closure, and taking corrective action when variances arise.
  • Anticipate, assess, and manage risks and issues; define mitigation and contingency plans and drive issues through resolution.
  • Manage multiple concurrent projects and workstreams, balancing priorities and resources and coordinating cross-project dependencies across regions and functional teams.
  • Enforce scope and change control, including requirements sign-off, documented design decisions, and appropriate approvals.
  • Plan and drive data migration, integration delivery, testing cycles—including SIT, UAT, and period-close dry runs—and go-live readiness assessments.
  • Manage implementation partners and vendors, including statements of work, effort estimates, deliverable quality, and budget utilization.
  • Align Finance process owners and end users on process design, internal controls including SOX, change management, and user enablement.
  • Maintain project management standards, delivery cadence, and documentation using tools such as Jira, Confluence, and MS Project or Smartsheet.

Benefits

  • Employees may be eligible for a sign-on payment, relocation package, and restricted stock units, evaluated case by case.
  • Medical, dental, vision, life, and disability benefits.
  • Participation in the Company’s 401(k) plan.
  • Up to 15 to 25 days of vacation per year, depending on tenure.
  • Up to 13 holidays throughout the calendar year.
  • Up to 10 days of paid sick leave per year.
