SENIOR PROJECT MANAGER - COMMERCIAL HVAC & MECHANICAL CONSTRUCTION
About The Position
We are seeking a Senior Project Manager to lead multiple commercial HVAC and mechanical construction projects within a hands-on subcontractor environment. This role is built for an experienced PM who is ready to take full ownership of project execution, performance, and outcomes across a concurrent portfolio of active jobs. You will manage complex HVAC installations, piping systems, and field operations with the expectation of operating independently, driving results, and leading teams without close oversight. This is a high-impact position in a fast-paced contractor setting where strong leadership, sound judgment, and disciplined execution are essential.
Requirements
- 8+ years of experience managing commercial HVAC or mechanical construction projects
- Strong background in commercial HVAC systems required — residential-only experience will not be considered
- Experience with a mechanical contractor, HVAC subcontractor, or design-build mechanical firm required
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously with full ownership and minimal oversight
- Demonstrated leadership experience managing field teams and subcontractors in a hands-on environment
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and specifications
- Working knowledge of project scheduling and cost control tools including Microsoft Project or comparable platforms
- Comfortable and effective operating within a hands-on, small-company contractor environment
Responsibilities
- Oversee multiple commercial HVAC and mechanical projects simultaneously from preconstruction through final closeout
- Lead field teams, subcontractors, and internal staff across concurrent job sites with clarity and accountability
- Manage complex HVAC systems, piping scopes, and mechanical installations with a deep understanding of technical requirements
- Drive project schedules, cost control, and overall execution, resolving issues proactively before they affect project outcomes
- Serve as a primary point of contact for clients, inspectors, and company leadership on active projects
- Review drawings, specifications, and project requirements to guide accurate and efficient field execution
- Manage RFIs, submittals, change orders, and all project documentation with rigor and consistency
- Lead procurement strategy, subcontractor selection, and jobsite coordination across the full project lifecycle
