About The Position

WORLD WIDE PROFESSIONAL SOLUTIONS is seeking a Senior Project Manager, Utility Electrical, to lead the utility electrical and high voltage substation scope for a large-scale data center project in Vernon, TX. This is a full-time, 100% onsite role. This is a high visibility owner’s representative role focused on the utility electrical package, including the high voltage utility interconnection, substation, protection and controls, energization, and interface to the data center electrical distribution system. You will own execution across design, construction, commissioning, and turnover. WWPS provides full relocation or travel support including per diem, ensuring a smooth transition.

Requirements

  • 12 to 20+ years of construction project management experience with significant electrical infrastructure responsibility
  • Strong experience delivering utility substations, high voltage electrical infrastructure, utility interconnections, transmission or distribution projects, or comparable mission critical power systems
  • Hands on knowledge of substation construction, power transformers, high voltage and medium voltage switchgear, breakers, protection and controls, relays, grounding, cable systems, and energization
  • Ability to read and manage execution from single line diagrams, electrical specifications, protection and control drawings, substation layouts, and commissioning procedures
  • Proven ability to lead contractors, engineers, utilities, vendors, commissioning teams, and multidisciplinary project stakeholders
  • Experience with electrical QA and QC, testing, commissioning, turnover, energization planning, and safe work practices around energized systems
  • Proficiency with project controls and construction management tools such as Procore, Primavera P6, or MS Project

Nice To Haves

  • Hyperscale data center or mission critical utility electrical experience strongly preferred
  • Direct, high voltage substation, utility interconnect, switchyard, or owner’s representative electrical package experience is highly relevant
  • Background with an electric utility, substation EPC, electrical contractor, engineering firm, commissioning provider, or large industrial power project is highly transferable
  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, construction management, engineering, or a related field.
  • PE, PMP, or electrical commissioning credentials are a plus

Responsibilities

  • Lead full lifecycle delivery of the utility electrical scope from design coordination and procurement through construction, energization, commissioning, and turnover
  • Serve as the primary owner’s representative interface with the serving utility, electrical EPC or contractor, design engineers, equipment vendors, commissioning teams, and site leadership
  • Manage high voltage substation and switchyard scope including transformers, breakers, disconnect switches, bus, instrument transformers, control buildings, station service, grounding systems, cable systems, and associated civil interfaces
  • Drive utility interconnection milestones, design approvals, long lead equipment procurement, outage and switching coordination, and required energization dates
  • Review and challenge electrical single line diagrams, substation layouts, equipment submittmits, protection and control schemes, relay coordination, grounding studies, and construction packages
  • Oversee protection and controls, relaying, SCADA, telecom, revenue or utility metering, and the interfaces between utility systems and the data center electrical distribution network
  • Coordinate installation and testing of high voltage and medium voltage cables, terminations, transformers, switchgear, breakers, grounding, and related electrical infrastructure
  • Lead quality and commissioning readiness including factory acceptance testing, field acceptance testing, relay testing, electrical testing, punch resolution, and energization documentation
  • Develop and manage safe energization, switching, lockout tagout, outage, and turnover plans in alignment with utility requirements, NEC, NESC, NFPA 70E, OSHA, and project standards
  • Control schedule, cost, risk, change management, contractor performance, and interface issues for the utility electrical workstream
  • Identify constructability, sequencing, access, equipment delivery, and cross discipline interface risks early and drive them to resolution
