About The Position

WSP is seeking a Senior Project Manager / Team Leader to support the continued growth of our NY/NJ water business. This role is ideal for a leader who enjoys building teams, improving project delivery, and helping create a high-performing organization. You will lead major infrastructure programs while helping recruit, mentor, and develop the next generation of water professionals — with real influence over how the practice operates and grows. The NJ/NY market presents a sustained pipeline of complex municipal infrastructure work — driven by NJDEP compliance programs, combined sewer overflow consent decrees, capital improvement mandates across municipal utilities and sewerage authorities, and federal investment through EPA and BIL grant programs. WSP is growing its presence in this market and needs strong project leaders to deliver on that commitment. This role offers the opportunity to influence operational performance across a growing practice, significant involvement in team development and succession planning, leadership visibility and direct collaboration with regional management, and a career path toward Area Manager, Practice Leader, or Regional Operations Leadership.

  • PE license in NJ or NY required, or ability to obtain through reciprocity
  • 10–20+ years of municipal water/wastewater consulting experience
  • Strong project management and leadership experience on complex infrastructure programs
  • Demonstrated success managing multidisciplinary teams

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with NJDEP permitting, consent decree environments, and municipal capital programs
  • Business development experience and existing client relationships

Responsibilities

  • Lead planning, design, permitting, and construction-phase services for major water and wastewater infrastructure projects
  • Manage project scope, schedule, budget, quality, and risk across concurrent programs
  • Develop and mentor project managers, engineers, and technical staff
  • Support recruiting and workforce growth initiatives as the practice expands
  • Strengthen relationships with municipal utilities, authorities, and public-sector clients
  • Support strategic pursuits, proposals, and account growth
  • Drive project delivery excellence and establish operational best practices

  • Compensation: Expected Salary (all locations): $119,600- $213,200
