About The Position

IMEG, a large design consulting firm, is seeking a Senior Project Manager 1 in their Manassas, VA office. This role involves providing overall leadership and serving as the primary point of contact for projects of varying sizes and complexities. The Senior Project Manager will collaborate with a team of engineers and consultants to offer project direction, engineering solutions, and client advice to ensure successful project outcomes. Key responsibilities include ensuring project completeness and accuracy, on-time delivery within budget, and adherence to IMEG and client standards. The role also focuses on developing and enhancing client relationships through excellent service and exceeding expectations. This position is intended for project managers who have proven competence in managing large projects or a significant volume of smaller projects and are actively managing projects for more than 50% of their time.

  • Experience with managing projects where IMEG is prime including hiring and managing subconsultants and executing subconsultant contracts
  • Experience with managing projects with multiple IMEG office locations, teams, and engineering disciplines
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite including but not limited to Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Ability to travel up to 25% for client project success and internal project team engagement
  • Minimum 8 years required, 10 years preferred, of project management, construction management, or related experience
  • Minimum of 3 years of project management experience at IMEG, or equivalent, required

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor of Science (BS) degree, or higher, in engineering, architecture, construction management, or a similar related field preferred
  • Completion of IMEG’s Project Management Training or other recognized industry standard project management training preferred

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate, oversee and manage projects ranging in size and complexity
  • Serve as the point of contact for teams and clients
  • Collaborate with business development staff, Project Executives, Client Executives, and Market Directors/Leaders during the initial stages of project opportunities
  • Assist Project Executives and Client Executives with design scopes of work and fee calculations for proposal generation as well as with contract reviews
  • Create project schedules including targets for milestones and deadlines
  • Create monthly billings and submit financial information to Accounting in a timely manner
  • Update billing projections and estimated completion percentage for all projects monthly
  • Collaborate with design staff and coordinate scheduling of projects during all phases of design and construction
  • Ensure design follows owner standards and requirements, IMEG standards, and code requirements
  • Ensure design milestone deliverables are achieved, IMEG and client quality control processes are completed, and construction technical support occurs in a timely manner
  • Prepare project status reports and other documentation
  • Schedule and lead progress meetings and provide meeting documentation
  • Lead project interviews and project presentations
  • Train, mentor, and motivate staff
  • Build, maintain, and develop client relationships
  • Respond to and resolve client/construction concerns
  • Manage change orders and obtain appropriate approvals
