About The Position

As a Senior Project Engineer, Mechanical Innovation, you’ll be part of our Innovation team working as a hybrid employee. You’ll get to participate in brainstorming sessions, and user research, and the creation and development of new product concepts in accordance with targets established by business leadership. You will evaluate, analyze, and validate designs through expedient test, and simulation. You will translate New Product Attributes into System Level Validation Requirements and independently develop new tools, systems, and methods to facilitate innovation project transition into New Product Development. You will provide leadership to NPD teams in understanding the process of innovation transition and in achieving cost, performance and quality objectives for all programs. You will successfully manage multiple projects, providing periodic status and progress updates where required and maintain appropriate documentation for work performed. You will partner with cross-functional teams to facilitate communication of New Product Concepts to Chief Engineers, Product Teams, and the broader business to ease acceptance. You will develop evaluation plans and guide Innovation Engineers in producing relevant data to assist in product transition. You will effectively summarize information and communicate it to leadership. You will also be responsible for training and mentoring junior team members.

Requirements

  • BSME or equivalent (4 years) from accredited computer/electrical engineering college
  • Work experience of 8-10 years with product development
  • Working understanding of electronics, and control firmware
  • 10+ years of hands-on experience in mechanical design
  • Proficiency in CATIA, and a strong basis in 3D design
  • Familiarity with lithium ion battery powered systems.
  • Experience with 3D printing, Machining, Fabrication, System Integration, and Testing of complex prototypes.

  • Complex Simulation skills a plus
