About The Position

Moss is seeking an Energy Project Engineer/Senior Project Engineer, Mechanical, to join their Engineering Services team. This role will ensure digital files and drawings are aligned across different disciplines, requiring cross-functional problem-solving. The position involves reviewing drawings from multiple engineers and other digital design files, with responsibilities spanning from design to construction support. For senior-level candidates, mentorship of junior team members is expected. The role also requires travel for site visits and technical support to construction teams.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, technical field, or related discipline (civil or mechanical engineering preferred).
  • 0-1+ years' experience as a Project Engineer and 2+ years’ experience as a Senior Project Engineer in the solar construction industry or direct engineering management on solar construction projects (solar experience required).
  • Familiarity with utility-scale solar and BESS project designs, including single-line drawings, mechanical, civil, structural, and electrical site plans, and equipment layout.
  • Understanding of the construction applications of solar power plant design, racking/tracker design, and powering.
  • Direct and relevant experience with the latest solar and battery storage equipment, including solar panels, inverters/transformers, racking systems, and battery systems.
  • Ability to review scope of work documents and analyze the design implications of different requirements.
  • Good communication and presentation skills, including the ability to organize and present complex technical information effectively in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Highly organized and able to multitask multiple projects at once.
  • Up to 10% of travel to visit project sites is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of racking, materials, and methods of construction in power systems.
  • Proven ability to work across multiple systems and manage design documentation.
  • Familiarity with CAD workflows and construction standards.
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D.
  • Knowledge of foundation design.
  • Geotechnical knowledge.
  • Knowledge of QGIS or other GIS software.
  • Knowledge of Autodesk Fusion or other 3D Design software.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure all digital files and drawings are aligned across different disciplines.
  • Review drawings from multiple engineers and other digital design files.
  • Own portions of the project lifecycle, from design to construction support.
  • Provide mentorship and support to junior team members (for Senior-level Project Engineer).
  • Travel across the country to perform site visits and provide technical support to construction teams.
  • Support field teams with various technical requests.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
