About The Position

We are seeking a Senior Project Director-Coastal and Ports to join our team in Baton Rouge, LA. Your role involves performing and leading planning, engineering analysis and design, and production of engineering drawings and specifications for coastal and waterfront structures. You will manage staff to support growth in the Gulf coast with an emphasis on Texas and Louisiana. Responsibilities include performing inspection and condition assessment of waterfront infrastructure, supervising engineering analysis and design, and leading the development of construction plans, specifications, and cost estimates. The role also involves conducting data acquisition and analysis, researching feasibility of alternative design approaches, site conditions, and regulatory specifications. This work requires coordination, research, and problem-solving on complex engineering projects with significant impact on major organization programs. You will collaborate closely with designers, other discipline engineers, and project managers within multidisciplinary teams, and interface with clients, subconsultants, and other stakeholders. Ensuring compliance with applicable codes and standards, and adherence to corporate QA/QC procedures for all engineering deliverables is crucial. You will interact with contractors for construction administration, including shop drawing reviews, site visits, and RFI responses. Preparing reports and permit applications, gathering information, and creating graphic presentations are also key duties. Field observations of construction for structures like port terminals, cruise terminals, and oil & gas platforms will be required. You will participate in team growth by mentoring junior staff and serving as the primary point of contact on assigned projects. Managing multi-disciplinary projects, developing and managing project management plans, schedules, and budgets, and actively managing project risks are essential. Preparing scopes of work and fee estimates for proposals, and leading client relationship management and business development in the Gulf Coast region are also part of the role. Other duties may be performed to support evolving business priorities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in civil or coastal engineering (minimum required)
  • P.E. License in Texas or Louisiana is required, or the ability to obtain via reciprocity within 6 months of hire.
  • Must have 15+ years of experience in coastal and waterfront infrastructure design, preferably with a consulting firm.
  • Experience with waterfront design codes and standards such as UFC, PIANC and ASCE/COPRI.
  • Experience in hydrodynamic numerical models such as ADCIRC, SWAN, Delft 3d or Mike.
  • Experience in Business Development, specifically with agencies in the Gulf coast region.
  • Experience with mooring analysis using Optimoor, Orca flex, or comparable commercial software, as well as with calculations for ship mooring and berthing forces, including wave force modelling for moored ships.
  • Demonstrated leadership, and strong oral and written communication skills.

  • Ensure that all engineering deliverables comply with applicable codes and standards.
  • Ensure all project documentation and deliverables are reviewed in accordance with corporate QA/QC procedures.
  • Interact with contractors to perform construction administration functions including shop drawing reviews, site visits and RFI response.
  • Prepare material for reports and permit applications, gathering information, preparing text and/or work progression documents, and graphic presentations.
  • Perform field observations of construction of structures such as port terminals, cruise terminals, and oil & gas platforms.
  • Participate in team growth and development by providing mentorship and technical guidance to junior staff.
  • Serves as the primary point of contact on assigned projects and interface with the clients, subconsultants and other internal and external stakeholders.
  • Manage multi-disciplinary projects in collaboration with design task leads and cross-disciplinary staff and subconsultants.
  • Develop and manage project management plans, schedules, and budgets.
  • Actively manage the project risks, budget and schedule and provide routine update and progress reports to the client and the internal leadership.
  • Manage QA/QC processes on project deliverables to ensure all project documentation and deliverables are reviewed in accordance with corporate QA/QC procedures.
  • Prepare scopes of work and fee estimates for proposals.
  • Lead client relationship management and business development in the Gulf Coast region.
  • Perform other duties as needed to support evolving business priorities.
