Worley is seeking a Senior Project Control Specialist to join their project controls team in either Markham or Oakville, Ontario. This role is part of a growing team focused on the transformation of Ontario’s Nuclear fleet, working on critical and ambitious clean energy programs. Requirements

  • 7+ years project controls experience in design and EPC(M) projects role is required.
  • Cost control and progress tracking experience is required.
  • Experience generating project progress reports and cost reports.
  • General knowledge of IT programs used in estimating and project controls.
  • Ability to obtain nuclear clearance, including a reasonable expectation that one can be obtained.
  • Computer literate in all Microsoft Office products.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Able to work under pressure on complex issues across multiple project.
  • Bachelor’s degree required.

Nice To Haves

  • Mastery in at least one area project controls, preferably cost (but schedule will also be considered).
  • Understanding and experience how to maintain or develop Power BI will be considered an asset.
  • Working knowledge on Ecosys, Primavera and Power BI is considered an asset.
  • Project Controls experience with nuclear (at all phases) is considered an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Execution of project controls activities including: Cost Control, Management of Change, Forecasting and Progressing on EPCM (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction Management).
  • Ability to preform and/or delegate all project control tasks across the entire area of controls responsibility.
  • Displays mastery in at least one area project controls, preferably cost (but schedule will also be considered).
  • Creation and/or input into the PCP (Project Controls Plan) for active projects.
  • Assurance the PCP is being followed by other project controls and other supporting functional groups, including project management.
  • Creation and integration of the WBS (Work Breakdown Structure) and CBS (Cost Breakdown Structure) for the project(s).
  • Assurance the WBS and CBS properly account for and can be integrated into EPCM projects, especially as it pertains to different contract types with the project (lump sum, unit rate, reimbursable).
  • Creation and maintenance of the project controls RACSI (Responsible, Accountable, Consulted, Supporting, and Informed) charts.
  • Assurance the costing system is setup and maintain properly, including performing the setup/maintenance where/when required and all cost codes are appropriately funded, de-funded, and closed in a timely manner.
  • Customization and setup of any reporting templates, including: progress reports, cost reports, and ad-hock reports.
  • Overall accountability that all reporting is accurate, and identification/communication for any gaps or areas of concern in reporting to the appropriate stakeholder (i.e. Project Management).
  • Creation and maintenance of the project reporting calendar. Assurance that reporting can be and is released on-time as per the project reporting calendar.
  • Interface with all other stakeholders as required to achieve the project controls objectives.
  • Train and mentor junior project controls personnel on proper controls processes and procedures. This includes project controls from vendors and contractors that may be junior.
  • Understand the internal and external management of change processes and provide a means for change to identified, approved, and integrated into relevant systems, including: cost, schedule, and reporting.
  • Knowledge of scheduling including the decomposition of project requirements into schedule data and how the schedule interconnects into the various other systems (i.e. – cost/resource forecasting).
  • Able to modify and/or create progressing templates (i.e. scorecards) that can used by discipline leads to update and other controllers as inputs for schedule/report updating.
  • Expedite the resolution of any issues as they arise and elevate issues to appropriate stakeholders before they become concerns/risks to the project.
  • Ensure accuracy of coding on all daily timesheets and provide cost coding on Procurement requisitions and Subcontractor invoice.
