The Senior Project Accountant provides operational leadership to the Project Accounting group, partners closely with Project Managers and other Operations leadership, and plays a key role in improving project financial performance, scalability, and compliance with client contract requirements and company policies. They ensure accurate project setup and revenue recognition as well as timely billing and financial reporting. TLC provides training for roles at all levels.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (or equivalent relevant experience).
  • A minimum of 8 years of progressive project accounting and supervisory experience in an engineering, architecture, or professional services firm.
  • Demonstrated expertise with project setup, budgeting, invoicing, revenue recognition support, WIP/unbilled analysis, and project close in a project-based environment.
  • Strong understanding of common contract types and billing methods (T&M, fixed fee, cost-plus, NTE, unit rate) and client billing requirements.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate financial results into operational insights for non-finance stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and maintain high attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work occasional overtime to meet month-end close or client billing deadlines.

Nice To Haves

  • ERP experience in Deltek Vantagepoint or Deltek Vision, especially implementing, optimizing, or administering project accounting modules (project setup standards, billing formats, rate tables, workflows).
  • Knowledge of A/E industry performance metrics (utilization, realization, backlog) and management reporting.
