About The Position

If you’re at your best when you’re embedded in the work, partnering with Project Managers, solving messy billing issues, and bringing clarity to financial performance, this role is your next career step! This isn’t a back-office accounting position. You’ll sit at the intersection of finance and operations, working across multiple projects and teams to ensure the financial side of our work runs as well as the technical side. You’ll be trusted to take ownership, challenge where needed and help operational leaders make better decisions without losing sight of the details that keep everything running. ISL is comprised of just over 600 employees including award-winning engineers, technologists, planners, landscape architects, scientists, and much more that work together to deliver infrastructure projects that minimize environmental impacts and maximize benefits to the community. They deliver on a variety of multidisciplinary projects and have extensive expertise across five sectors: Transportation, Municipal and Community, Bridges, Building and Structures and Land and Environment. Requirements

  • 5+ years in project accounting, project finance, or professional services
  • Strong understanding of billing models (T&M, lump sum, milestones)
  • Experience working across multiple projects and stakeholders
  • Confidence working with operational leaders (not just finance)
  • Solid systems capability (ERP experience)
  • Advanced Excel skills

Nice To Haves

  • BST is a strong asset
  • CPA (or progress toward it) is an asset but not required
  • Past experiences mentoring team members or clients is an asset

Responsibilities

  • Leading monthly billing and ensuring accurate, timely revenue capture
  • Partnering with Project Managers on contracts, changes, and financial performance
  • Monitoring WIP, identifying risks, and improving billing conversion
  • Supporting forecasting, budgeting, and project performance insights
  • Managing receivables and supporting collections conversations
  • Strengthening financial controls and month-end accuracy
  • Identifying and driving improvements in systems, reporting, and workflows
