Senior Program Manager (hybrid)
About The Position
Johnson Controls is seeking a results-driven Senior Program Manager to join our Fire Detection New Product Introduction (NPI) Program Management Office. This exciting opportunity is based in Westford, MA, offering a hybrid work environment with three days onsite and two days remote each week. This role is ideal for a proven leader who has successfully delivered complex software and hardware products while elevating program management practices, execution rigor, and organizational capability. This position is based onsite in Westford, MA. Candidates must be commuting distance to the facility, or able to relocate. Various relocation packages are available.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
- 10+ years of experience leading electronic product development and NPI programs within a manufacturing environment, with demonstrated success delivering complex software and hardware products.
- Proven ability to lead large-scale, cross-functional programs in global organizations, including management of budgets, forecasts, resource plans, risks, and portfolio reporting.
- Strong knowledge of Agile and traditional project management methodologies, with proficiency in Microsoft Project and Excel and the ability to drive execution through influence, collaboration, and effective stakeholder management.
- Demonstrated track record of elevating program management maturity through mentoring, process improvement, best-practice implementation, and leadership that enables organizational growth and stronger business outcomes.

- Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification.
- Proficiency in Visio, Jira, Confluence, and Power BI.
- Experience within the fire protection, life safety, or highly regulated industries.
Responsibilities
- Lead multiple concurrent NPI programs through the full product lifecycle, balancing scope, schedule, cost, quality, and risk while ensuring compliance with Johnson Controls' Product Development Process.
- Drive alignment and execution across global cross-functional teams, including Engineering, Quality, Product Management, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Sales, and Training.
- Develop and maintain integrated program plans, including schedules, budgets, resource plans, milestones, risks, and mitigation strategies.
- Manage project and departmental budgets, including planning, forecasting, tracking, and reporting to ensure alignment with business objectives and financial commitments.
- Lead Value Analysis / Value Engineering (VAVE) initiatives to improve cost competitiveness, optimize designs, and maximize product value.
- Proactively identify, escalate, and resolve program risks, issues, and dependencies.
- Communicate program status, key metrics, risks, and recommendations to senior leadership and stakeholders.
- Advance PMO effectiveness through mentoring, best-practice adoption, process improvements, and continuous improvement initiatives that enhance execution predictability and business outcomes.
