About The Position
The YMCA of Metropolitan Washington is seeking a passionate and dependable Senior Program Leader for its Pre-K and Kindergarten program at Sterling Elementary in Sterling, Virginia. The role focuses on creating a positive environment for early learners while supporting and guiding other staff. The position is part-time during the school year, with before-care hours, after-care hours, or both.
Requirements
- At least 2 years of experience with children ages 3–6 in a licensed or educational setting.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Strong classroom management and communication skills.
- CPR/First Aid certification, or willingness to obtain it.
Nice To Haves
- CDA or early childhood coursework is strongly preferred.
- Experience fostering an environment for children of all abilities is valued.
Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise engaging activities for Pre-K and Kindergarten students.
- Design developmentally appropriate lesson plans and routines.
- Provide mentorship and support to Group Leaders.
- Communicate clearly with families and site leadership.
- Monitor safety, attendance, and behavior.
- Build strong, trusting relationships with children.
