About The Position

Our employee-owned and multi-disciplined team of engineering and design professionals is looking for a Senior Professional Mechanical Engineer who has extensive experience designing a variety of HVAC, plumbing, processing, and other mechanical system design projects for heavy industrial facilities and site operations to join our Mining team. As a member of our team, you will work alongside a multi-disciplined team of Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, and Structural) and Architecture professionals to provide an array of services for a diverse portfolio of multi-disciplined projects throughout the country. As a Senior Professional Engineer, you will lead the mechanical design effort for complex plant/building systems and site operations for heavy industrial sectors, including mining, mineral processing, aggregate, and metals. You will also prepare mechanical plans, specifications, design details and construction documentation. Additionally, you will lead design teams for mechanical and multi-disciplined projects and be responsible for technical, quality, financial, and safety aspects from conception through construction. In addition, you will have the opportunity to be a mentor and share your knowledge and professional experiences to further develop less experienced team members who will work alongside you. Furthermore, under our “Seller-Doer” approach to business development, you will collaborate with the Mechanical Group Manager, Market Managers, and the Vice President of Mining to further advance our services and enhance our reputation by contributing to the development of marketing plans, cultivating / maintaining relations with key stakeholders and client representatives, tracking prospective opportunities, developing proposals, and delivering capabilities presentations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering with a structural emphasis.
  • Structural Engineer in the State of Minnesota.
  • 10 or more years of progressive experience designing heavy industrial structures (ie. manufacturing, mining).
  • Proficiency with RISA 3D or Ram Structural System, MathCAD, and MS Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Strong working knowledge of structural steel, cast-in-place concrete, and precast concrete design for new construction and expansion, renovation, conversion, and adaptation/reinforcement project types.
  • Experience conducting structural condition assessments of existing structures and preparing plans and specifications for structural repairs.
  • Ability to apply effective written and verbal communication when developing proposals, preparing technical reports, participating in or leading project team meetings, and delivering client presentations.
  • Demonstrated ability to coach, mentor, and develop less experienced professionals with an emphasis on technical design standards, quality control, and/or project management practices.
  • Valid Driver’s License with a clean driving record.
  • Flexibility to travel as needed (up to 30%) for team meetings, client consultations, site inspections/visits, construction management duties, etc.; Occasional overnight travel will be required.

  • Familiarity with AutoCAD and Revit.
  • Previous business development experience, including preparation of proposals and fee estimates, and delivery of capabilities presentations.
  • Previous experience or aspirations to manage multi-disciplined projects.
