About The Position

Cloudera is seeking a Senior Product Manager to own the product strategy and roadmap for Cloudera Manager, a lifecycle management tool used by large global enterprises to manage mission-critical clusters with thousands of nodes and petabytes of data. The role will lead a strategy that brings enterprise capabilities and the ease of data SaaS products to deployments ranging from on-premises to cloud. It will help evolve Cloudera Manager from a tool primarily used by engineers into a straightforward experience for data platform managers, working closely with Engineering, PMO, Product Marketing, and Field organizations to deliver a market-leading hybrid-cloud experience. The Senior Product Manager will simplify product experiences with intelligent recommendations and guardrails; make platform administration more accessible to IT generalists; lead the evolution toward hybrid-cloud cluster orchestration; improve core lifecycle operations at scale; establish predictable release and API compatibility policies; and monitor operational success metrics. The role is not eligible for immigration sponsorship.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • At least 5 years of experience in enterprise software, including at least 2 years of Product Management experience.
  • Foundational understanding of open data lakes, data movement, enterprise data governance, and big data architecture.
  • Basic technical understanding of virtualization and data center networking.
  • Basic technical understanding of VM-based public cloud deployments (IaaS/PaaS), object storage architectures such as S3, ADLS, and GCS, and network architectures for at least one major hyperscaler (AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud Platform).
  • Demonstrated success transforming complex, developer-centric platforms into intuitive, opinionated products with active guardrails that reduce manual operational friction.

Nice To Haves

  • Direct experience working with or within major cloud providers (AWS, Azure, or GCP), including partner co-development, cloud marketplace programs, or cloud-native integrations.
  • Strong knowledge of modern cloud data platforms and competitive solutions such as Databricks, Snowflake, Google BigQuery/Bigtable, Amazon EMR/Redshift, or Azure Synapse.
  • Familiarity with open table formats such as Apache Iceberg and multi-cloud data architecture strategies.
  • Strong background managing enterprise platforms or supporting customers with enterprise-scale deployments containing more than 100 terabytes of data.

Responsibilities

  • Own the product strategy and roadmap for Cloudera Manager.
  • Shift product strategy from extensive customization toward a simpler experience with optimal settings, active guardrails, configuration recommendations, actionable health alerts, and bad-configuration warnings, incorporating AI trained on Cloudera’s knowledge base and real-time observability telemetry.
  • Design intuitive workflows and self-guided administrative tools for IT generalists with limited big data expertise.
  • Lead the long-term evolution of Cloudera Manager into an orchestrator of clusters across multiple clouds for hybrid-cloud deployments.
  • Optimize cluster lifecycle operations to support environments of up to 10,000 nodes and ensure refresh and maintenance operations on clusters of more than 1,000 nodes meet customer-approved SLAs.
  • Establish and enforce structured release lifecycle policies that guarantee public API stability and backward compatibility.
  • Track and improve operational velocity, adoption of prescriptive features, and support escalation volumes.
  • Partner with Engineering, PMO, Product Marketing, and Field organizations to deliver the product experience.
