About The Position

Cloudera is seeking a Senior Product Manager to own the product strategy and roadmap for Cloudera Manager, a lifecycle management tool used by large global enterprises. Cloudera Manager manages mission-critical clusters spanning thousands of nodes and petabytes of data. The role will shape the product into an enterprise-capable, easy-to-use experience across on-premises and cloud environments, evolving it from a tool primarily used by engineers into an accessible platform for data platform managers. The position partners closely with Engineering, PMO, Product Marketing, and Field organizations to deliver a leading hybrid-cloud experience. The Senior Product Manager will simplify product configuration and administration through intelligent recommendations, actionable health alerts, configuration warnings, and active guardrails informed by Cloudera knowledge and real-time observability telemetry. The role will also modernize hybrid architecture, improve cluster lifecycle operations at large scale, establish predictable release and API compatibility policies, and track operational success metrics.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • At least 5 years of experience in enterprise software, including at least 2 years of Product Management experience.
  • Strong foundational understanding of open data lakes, data movement, enterprise data governance, and big data architecture.
  • Basic technical understanding of virtualization and data center networking.
  • Basic technical understanding of VM-based public cloud deployments (IaaS/PaaS), object storage architectures such as S3, ADLS, or GCS, and network architectures for at least one major hyperscaler: AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.
  • Demonstrated success transforming complex, developer-centric platforms into intuitive, opinionated products with active guardrails that reduce manual operational friction.

Nice To Haves

  • Direct experience working with or within major cloud providers (AWS, Azure, or GCP), including partner co-development, cloud marketplace programs, or cloud-native integrations.
  • Strong knowledge of modern cloud data platforms and competitive solutions such as Databricks, Snowflake, Google BigQuery/Bigtable, Amazon EMR/Redshift, or Azure Synapse.
  • Familiarity with open table formats such as Apache Iceberg and multi-cloud data architecture strategies.
  • Strong background managing enterprise platforms or supporting customers with enterprise-scale deployments involving more than 100 terabytes of data.

Responsibilities

  • Shift the product toward simplified user experiences, optimal configuration settings, and active guardrails that reduce operational fragility and prevent outages.
  • Incorporate AI-powered configuration recommendations, actionable health alerts, and bad-configuration warnings using Cloudera’s knowledge base and real-time observability telemetry.
  • Design intuitive workflows and self-guided administrative tools for IT generalists with limited big data expertise.
  • Lead the long-term evolution of Cloudera Manager into an orchestrator for clusters across multiple clouds and hybrid-cloud deployments.
  • Optimize cluster lifecycle operations to support environments of up to 10,000 nodes and ensure refresh and maintenance operations on clusters of 1,000 or more nodes meet customer-approved SLAs.
  • Establish and enforce release lifecycle policies that guarantee public API stability and backward compatibility.
  • Monitor and improve operational velocity, prescriptive feature adoption, and support escalation volumes.
  • Partner with Engineering, PMO, Product Marketing, and Field organizations to deliver the product experience.
