About The Position

Google is seeking a Senior Product Manager to guide Google Messages products from conception to launch, connecting technical and business considerations and breaking complex problems into steps that drive product development. The role focuses on foundational app interactions and message composition, the Extensions framework, and integrating Google’s AI models into intelligent messaging experiences. Google Messages aims to build a helpful, expressive, and secure messaging app across phones, watches, computers, tablets, and cars. The team develops experiences such as group chats, high-resolution media sharing, and expressive reactions, and works toward an interoperable messaging experience across devices. The role collaborates with engineering, design, program management, and other stakeholders to deliver features and shape a unified product narrative.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
8 years of experience in product management or a related technical role.
3 years of experience taking technical products from conception to launch.
Experience collaborating with multidisciplinary teams of engineers, designers, researchers, and data scientists.
Experience integrating generative AI tools or LLM interfaces into workflows.

Nice To Haves

Master’s degree in a technology- or business-related field.
5 years of experience working cross-functionally with engineering, UX/UI, sales finance, and other stakeholders.
Experience working on consumer messaging products, social networks, or media sharing platforms.
Familiarity with RCS and native mobile application ecosystems.
Deep understanding of product development practices including accessibility, privacy, trust and safety, and responsible AI innovation.
Ability to drive product strategy through interactions with a variety of stakeholders and guide the integration of multiple adjacent projects.

Responsibilities

Define the roadmap for foundational app interactions and core message composition, optimizing critical experiences and UX elements for a seamless texting flow.
Lead the Extensions framework strategy, building a platform for users to access Google services, safety tools, and third-party apps within conversations.
Shape intelligent messaging by integrating Google’s latest AI models, including Gemini, and developing chatbot and context-aware, agentic features that assist users and retrieve relevant information using personal context.
Partner with Engineering Leads, UX Designers, and Program Managers to translate complex technical concepts into clear product requirements.
Orchestrate agile, high-performing teams to deliver impactful, high-quality features from conception to launch.
Synthesize user feedback, market trends, and technical capabilities into a unified product narrative balancing foundational UX improvements with next-generation AI investments.
