Senior Product Manager | Prism

EpicorTaylor, MI
Hybrid

About The Position

Epicor is seeking a Senior Product Manager to own the evolution of Prism Core, a foundational platform powered by third-party AI models, RAG/hybrid search, and Epicor's own core agents. This role involves managing the orchestrator that directs requests to appropriate models or agents, ensuring guardrails and security controls are maintained, and overseeing usage tracking and monetization systems. You will collaborate with product teams building on Prism Core and the engineers developing the services, prioritizing future development based on shared needs and evidence-driven data. Epicor, a leader in ERP software, is transitioning to a platform-first, AI-enabled delivery model, emphasizing shared capabilities and cross-functional collaboration. The team operates as a lean, senior, cross-functional unit where roles blur, and success is measured by reliability, safety, and ease of adoption for dependent teams. This role requires a platform mindset, a 'founder mode' approach to problem-solving, and the ability to work backwards from customer needs.

Requirements

  • 6+ years in product management, with a track record of shipping platform or infrastructure-style products.
  • 3+ years of experience with model orchestration, AI safety or guardrail systems, identity and billing infrastructure, or applied AI/agent products.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Proven ability to validate customer needs, prioritize ruthlessly, and build a roadmap for a complex product.
  • Real technical depth in platform infrastructure.
  • Working understanding of model orchestration, guardrail and safety systems, and usage-based billing.
  • Strong working knowledge of how AI agents and models are evaluated, orchestrated, and grounded.
  • Comfort defining clear specs and success criteria, and directing a small, cross-functional team.
  • Understanding of how identity, access control, and audit trails translate into customer trust.
  • Data-driven decision-making and financial fluency to reason about usage-based billing and cost trade-offs.
  • Ability to drive alignment across peer leads and product teams without formal authority.
  • Familiarity with modern, AI-assisted software delivery and cloud/SaaS platforms.

Nice To Haves

  • Direct experience with model orchestration or gateway systems, AI safety and guardrail frameworks, identity providers, or usage-based billing systems.
  • Practical experience with prompt engineering, model evaluation, retrieval-based AI systems, and agent orchestration, including using AI coding tools to prototype.
  • Working proficiency in a language such as Python or C#.
  • Familiarity with OAuth/OIDC, API gateway design, and how modern AI systems connect to external tools and data.
  • Exposure to machine learning frameworks such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, or scikit-learn.
  • Previous ERP experience.
  • Advanced degrees are a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Own the orchestrator, deciding how requests are routed to third-party models or Prism's core agents and evolving this routing as new models and agents become available.
  • Own guardrails, including responsible AI and safety controls for all model and agent actions, ensuring they operate within defined limits.
  • Own the platform's security and access posture, including identity, access, and audit controls, and prioritize security hardening in partnership with the security team.
  • Own usage tracking, measuring and attributing usage across all products and customers on Prism Core for accurate billing, throttling, and reporting.
  • Own monetization, ensuring usage translates correctly into billing and that pricing models function as Prism expands.
  • Own model selection, deciding which third-party AI models are supported and managing changes as the market evolves.
  • Own the evaluation framework for testing new or updated models against Epicor's evaluation suite before release.
  • Own the platform's first-party core agents, ensuring other product teams can leverage these shared capabilities.
  • Partner with teams building on Prism, such as the Workflow Engine team, to ensure shared services meet their needs and to prioritize the roadmap based on cross-team demand.
  • Stay current on industry approaches to model orchestration, guardrails, and usage-based billing to improve the platform and prevent duplicated effort.
