About The Position

Avalara is hiring a Senior Product Manager for its Micro and Emerging Business organization, which develops simple, self-serve tax compliance experiences for growing online sellers. The role owns the product-led growth motion for online sellers and focuses on helping them discover Avalara through platforms they already use, understand their tax exposure, connect their store, and quickly recognize product value. The position works with a dedicated front-end pod, a senior UX designer, and a growth team, and reports to the Head of Product, Micro and Emerging Business. It is ideally based in Seattle, WA and is described as remote. The product manager will set the vision, strategy, and roadmap for online sellers and own outcomes across the growth funnel, including signups, activation, free-to-paid conversion, retention, and expansion. The role shapes the experience from first visit through the customer's first meaningful value moment, and owns app listings, integrations, and platform connection flows. It also drives product revenue through pricing, packaging, upgrade prompts, and usage-based expansion, while establishing a high-tempo experimentation engine for onboarding, paywalls, pricing, and in-product messaging. The role uses AI where applicable to personalize onboarding or simplify setup, and collaborates daily with engineering, design, and growth teams to coordinate self-serve and lifecycle experiences across Avalara's portfolio. Avalara describes itself as an AI-first company. The successful candidate is expected to use AI and related technologies in daily work, apply them to business challenges, and keep learning and sharing knowledge about developments and best practices. Avalara offers a compensation package, paid time off, paid parental leave, and location-dependent benefits. The company emphasizes diversity, equity, and inclusion and supports eight employee-run resource groups.
