About The Position

This role is an opportunity to guide the product strategy for Amazon DynamoDB, a distributed NoSQL database used by hundreds of thousands of customers daily. The Senior Product Manager - Technical (Senior PMT-ES) will own and drive key areas of the product by defining the product strategy, roadmap, and pricing for a core set of capabilities. Success in this role requires meaningful product management experience leading products or features, a technical background (preferably in databases), and experience delivering large-scale SaaS, PaaS, or IaaS products through the full product lifecycle. The ideal candidate is data-driven and can communicate effectively in writing and verbally to customers, across organizations, and to senior leadership. The DynamoDB team's mission is to serve the world's most critical and demanding applications, providing consistent performance at any scale for businesses like Disney+, Snap, Zoom, Lyft, Airbnb, and Redfin.

Requirements

• 5+ years of technical product management with internet business experience
• 5+ years of working as a Technical Product Manager experience
• 3+ years of technical (software development, network development, IT, other related) experience
• Experience in taking a product from conception & definition phase through engineering design and taking it to market
• Experience delivering large-scale SaaS, PaaS or LaaS products where you are responsible for the full product lifecycle, from concept through GTM (go to market)
• Data-driven
• Able to communicate crisply in writing and verbally to customers, across organizations, and up to senior leadership

Nice To Haves

• Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations
• Experience working within teams delivering software products and features using agile methodologies
• Technical background (preferably in databases)

Responsibilities

• Own key areas of focus (or a mission) aligned to helping customers be successful using DynamoDB, such as event-driven architectures, scalability/serverless, developer experience, data protection/security, price/performance, extensibility, global app development, and more.
• Own the strategy for your area of focus, work backwards from customer needs, and leverage data such as service telemetry, user feedback, and industry trends to author PRFAQs, pricing, and naming narratives.
• Hold yourself and partners accountable for the highest quality customer outcomes.
• Be responsible for growing usage, iterating on customer feedback, and education after launching a capability.
• Partner with engineering, legal, documentation, marketing, sales, solution architecture, finance, GTM specialists, and more to drive growth.
• Provide clarity where there is ambiguity, be a builder, and be customer obsessed.
• Work with customers to learn about the problems they are trying to solve.
• Analyze service and business metrics.
• Write PRFAQs, pricing narratives, and naming documents.
• Iterate on product decisions with the engineering team.
• Work with partners in marketing, sales, solution architecture, legal, support, documentation, etc.
• Envision what is next.
• Exhibit learn and be curious for different technologies, growth strategies, and market trends.
• Synthesize customer feedback and industry knowledge with business and service data to create strategies and test hypotheses.
• Solve problems and connect people with specialists.
• Constantly look to learn by reaching out to other experts within the company and in the larger tech community.
• Use your own product by developing samples, demos, side-projects, and through mentorship.
• Use code, technical documentation, and architecture diagrams to understand problems and communicate solutions.
