About The Position

The New York Times is seeking an experienced and driven Product Manager for Wirecutter, its product review and shopping guide arm. This role reports to the Product Director of Platforms and will focus on leading two independent engineering teams to build the next generation of Wirecutter's commerce platform. The Product Manager will be responsible for shaping how the Data & Monetization platform enhances reader experience and drives business outcomes. Wirecutter serves millions of users annually and facilitates billions of dollars in sales for merchant partners through rigorous testing, research, and recommendations. This is a hybrid role based in the New York City headquarters, requiring approximately two days per week in the office.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in product management
  • 3+ years of experience in a technical or data-focused role
  • Strong systems-thinking skills, with the ability to zoom in and out fluidly
  • Proven track record of driving business impact
  • Comfort using AI in daily product management and team workflows

Responsibilities

  • Articulate a clear vision and roadmap for how monetization and data platforms can drive strategic goals for Wirecutter.
  • Identify, advocate for, and execute a vision for a unified data platform covering product catalog, user engagement, and monetization data.
  • Drive the roadmap for affiliate revenue systems, including third-party integrations, data accuracy and freshness, and revenue attribution.
  • Lead teams in daily operations, ensuring clear priorities and an effective operating model to achieve the product vision.
  • Balance investments across varying time horizons, degrees of risk/impact, and platform needs.
  • Integrate perspectives and needs from key stakeholders (e.g., Revenue, Editorial) and partner Product teams into strategic and tactical planning.
  • Maintain broad awareness and understanding among non-technical stakeholders regarding team focus areas and execution against priorities.
  • Continuously evaluate workflows to identify opportunities for smarter execution and higher impact.
  • Act as a key voice in identifying ways to refine platforms and enhance cross-team collaboration across the company.
