About The Position

This role involves full product lifecycle ownership for Vanguard’s data platforms, from incubation to sunset, aligning with the enterprise data strategy and target state architecture. The Senior Technical Product Manager will drive customer-centric product ideation by monitoring market trends and conducting user research to identify opportunities for data platform products and features. Collaboration across divisions with users such as data engineers, architects, analysts, and data scientists is key to defining data products that meet critical data and business needs. The role fosters a culture of experimentation through MVPs, rapid prototyping, and iterative development, encouraging bold thinking and a strong bias for execution and learning. Insights will be translated into actionable and prioritized product features. Product delivery will be achieved through innovation, experimentation, and continuous improvement. This includes developing and maintaining a transparent, outcomes-based roadmap and backlog, partnering with stakeholders including architecture and engineering under the CTO to sequence capabilities based on business priorities and technical feasibility. Collaboration with data architecture and engineering teams is essential for co-creating features, often leading technical discussions with a deep understanding of data platforms and technologies like AWS, Databricks, Snowflake, and integration patterns. Usability testing and experimentation will ensure platform features meet user needs. The role also manages product launches, coordinating with project managers for timely releases, and defines/monitors key product metrics to analyze performance, drive value, inform roadmap and investment decisions, and measure success. In terms of funding and P&L, the role partners with finance and engineering leadership to allocate budgets and uses data-driven frameworks to define and manage OKRs, P&L, and ROI of core platform capabilities and data services. Go-to-market and adoption strategies will be developed and executed in partnership with enablement, communications, and support teams, including creating approaches to socialize products and features, along with onboarding and training materials to ensure adoption. The role also contributes to building out the product function by shaping a high-performing product culture within the data platform organization, fostering innovation, and mentoring junior PMs.
