Haventree exists to be a catalyst of financial security and upward mobility for Canadians who are underserved by the traditional financial system. Reporting to the Director of Product, the Senior Product Manager – Card & Payments is responsible for leading the end-to-end build of the bank’s spending card program. This is a greenfield 0→1 build, and the role owns the strategy, execution, and delivery of the product from concept through launch and scale. The position works across product, engineering, design, compliance, risk, and external partners to deliver a modern card experience that drives adoption, usage, and long-term performance.

Requirements

  • University degree in Business, Engineering, Finance, Economics, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 7+ years of product management experience in fintech, payments, or digital banking, owning complex products from strategy through execution and launch.
  • Proven experience leading 0→1 product development in fast-moving, ambiguous environments.
  • Strong experience in cards, payments, or transaction-based financial products, including work with card networks, processors, or external payment partners.
  • Experience driving end-to-end product execution, including strategy definition, requirements writing, and agile delivery.
  • Experience working in regulated financial services, partnering with Legal, Compliance, and Risk.
  • Strong experience building and using unit economic models to inform product decisions.
  • Experience defining KPIs and using data to drive adoption, usage, and continuous improvement.
  • Experience working cross-functionally with Marketing and Design to deliver end-to-end product experiences.
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, including alignment with senior leadership and cross-functional teams.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, strong organization, and excellent time management skills to operate across multiple complex workstreams.

Responsibilities

  • Own the card product end-to-end – roadmap, requirements, prioritization, delivery, and post-launch optimization. You are the single-threaded owner of this workstream.
  • Develop and evolve the 0→1 product strategy and long-term vision for the spending card, identifying opportunities for differentiation, new revenue streams, product expansion, and competitive advantage within the Canadian banking and payments landscape.
  • Act as the primary decision-maker for the card product, exercising sound judgment in ambiguous situations and making trade-offs across customer experience, risk, compliance, technology, and commercial outcomes.
  • Define and sequence the product roadmap in close collaboration with senior leadership, balancing speed-to-market with a high-quality client experience.
  • Write clear, detailed product requirements that engineering, design, and partner teams can build from, including user flows, business rules, edge cases, and acceptance criteria.
  • Lead sprint-level execution, including backlog management, grooming sessions, sprint planning, release coordination, and ensuring delivery stays on track.
  • Work directly with external partners – card networks, processors, and platform providers – to define integration specifications, manage dependencies, and align on delivery timelines.
  • Navigate the regulatory landscape with confidence, partnering with compliance, legal, and risk teams to ensure the card product meets all applicable rules and standards from day one.
  • Model the unit economics of the card program – interchange revenue, processing costs, fraud exposure, and program-level profitability – and use those models to inform product and pricing decisions.
  • Define the KPIs that matter (activation, active usage, transaction volume, cost-to-serve, fraud rate) and build reporting and feedback loops that drive continuous improvement.
  • Design strategies to drive card adoption, activation, and habitual usage, working with marketing and CRM teams to build campaigns, incentives, and lifecycle communications that create sticky behaviors.
  • Collaborate with UX/UI and product design to craft an intuitive card experience – from onboarding and activation through everyday use, including digital wallet support, transaction visibility, and card controls.
