About The Position

Roku is seeking a Senior Product Manager to lead exchange optimization initiatives within its advertising platform and drive programmatic CTV innovation at scale. The role owns the strategy and execution for improving exchange outcomes for advertisers, maximizing revenue, and operating efficiently in a real-time bidding environment serving more than 100 million household devices. The product manager will lead work across traffic shaping, dynamic price floors, deal optimization, and outcome-driven auction mechanics, collaborating closely with data science, engineering, and demand partner teams. The role defines product requirements and experimentation frameworks, and translates advertiser and marketplace signals into algorithmic improvements that balance yield, latency, and user experience. It also involves shaping Roku’s relationships with leading ad technology companies and industry groups such as the IAB Tech Lab. The successful candidate will be comfortable in technically complex environments and combine strategic thinking with strong execution at the intersection of data, engineering, and advertising. Roku generally expects teams to work in the office Monday through Thursday, with Fridays generally flexible for remote work, except where role or office requirements call for five in-office days. For California applicants, the estimated annual base salary is $167,300–$307,600. Compensation depends on factors including skills, certifications, and geographic location.

Requirements

  • At least 6 years of product management experience.
  • At least 3 years at an RTB-enabled ad tech company, such as a large publisher operating a scaled exchange, SSP, or DSP, with direct involvement in programmatic optimization at scale.
  • Deep understanding of real-time bidding and exchange dynamics, including auction mechanics, bid request and response protocols, and supply path optimization.
  • Strong understanding of advertiser and agency dynamics and how parties interact with DSPs, SSPs, and publishers.
  • Experience deploying machine-learning-driven optimization models at scale in an RTB environment.
  • Strong statistical analysis and data interpretation skills, including the ability to design and evaluate experiments.
  • Proven ability to work cross-functionally with engineering, data science, sales, partnerships, and executive stakeholders.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including explaining complex technical concepts to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Strategic thinking combined with strong execution skills and the ability to work at both strategic and detailed levels.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in a quantitative or technical field.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with data science and engineering teams to design, test, and maintain dynamic price floor optimization algorithms using real-time signals to maximize auction outcomes.
  • Develop traffic-shaping strategies that route and pace bid requests across supply paths, SSPs, DSPs, and inventory tiers while balancing latency, timeouts, and win-rate economics in CTV environments.
  • Build and iterate on auction mechanics, including pricing dynamics, pod optimization, and floor personalization, to improve yield.
  • Own experimentation for pricing and routing changes, measuring impact on fill rate, CPM, latency, revenue, and user experience.
  • Analyze how bid request signals affect advertiser and exchange outcomes.
  • Model and forecast supply and demand elasticity by inventory segment to inform pricing and packaging strategy.
  • Partner with engineering to productionize optimization models.
  • Monitor exchange health metrics, including QPS, timeout rates, win rate, revenue per mille, and bid density.
  • Collaborate with demand partner teams to translate business goals into algorithmic constraints and objectives.
  • Track changes in the programmatic and CTV ecosystem and adapt strategies accordingly.
  • Engage with industry groups such as the IAB Tech Lab to understand demand partner perspectives and identify opportunities for more efficient collaboration.
  • Define product requirements, user stories, and acceptance criteria for complex technical features.
  • Communicate product strategy, roadmap, and progress to executive leadership and cross-functional stakeholders.
